I love it! This is my second favorite scene after Ringo's "lonely guy" sequence.

I love it when he's parading, especially the part when he's walking with that girl. He puts his jacket over a puddle. She walks on it. He puts his jacket over another puddle. She walks on it. He puts his jacket over something you can't see, but assume it's a puddle. It's a hole. She falls in. Nooo!

If I seem to act unkind, it's only me, it's not my mind that is confusing things.

Did you know he had a hangover while doing the lonely guy sequence?

Yeah – I like the part in the Anthology DVD when he talks about it. (paraphrasing here) "The reason why I looked so dejected is because I felt like shit!"a-hard-days-night-ringo-13
*EDIT* Damn - another major derailment. This started as a Yellow Submarine discussion. My apologies to my friend mithveaen who started the thread!

I watched Yellow Submarine for the first time last night. Here is my opinion:

68% Um... okay... that's weird... in a good way.
15% :D That's funny!
15% Woo-hoo! That's awesomely epic!
2% Okay... not exactly my favorite part of the movie...

And I loved catching all of the song references and such. I would start laughing, and my mom and sister would just look at me and make a "What...?" face.

Yeah, I love that Sea of Holes bit! Also the Sea of Monsters and the counting-to-64 sequence.

"Sixty-four years is 33,661,440 minutes and one minute is a long time!"

If you time it, you'll find that it does indeed take approximately one minute to count out 64 beats in that song! Amazing. I wonder if that was intentional? (Reflects) No, it couldn't have been intentional - just one of those amazing Beatle coincidences, like the alarm clock in "A Day In The Life".

I'd second that. a-hard-days-night-ringo-8 It was my first Beatles movie, and it wasn't exactly making a lot of sense at first. so I re-watched it and I had a lot of fun laughing. I especially love the sea of holes bit, that's still awesome.

I love yellow submarine (and A Hard Day's Night, but I'll stay on topic) I love the when I'm 64 scene! and i love how the blue meanie pops up in the sea of holes, and how Jeremy gets stuck in the hole 'there are no holes in my education!' 'so you haven't haven't composed a w'hole' book?'

there's just so many lines that make me laugh so hard! 'what do you think?' 'i think it burnt me finger'

and i love the house the beatles live in and George's car (or Ringo's)!ahdn_george_06there's just so much i really dig about this movie!

YES! And the meanie that shows up grinning during the counting-to-64 segment of "When I'm 64", so wonderfully random and delightful yet vaguely menacing, like "Enjoy this musical and colourful diversion from the plot while you can, 'cause when we take over, all entertainment will be BANNED!"

Fun to watch Paul in the last scene, trying not to crack up while John's delivering his "Newer and bluer meanies..." line! Damn, how I wish I knew what the "psychedelic backdrop" they were supposed to be standing in front of (to be photographically added in place of the blackness, until the budget ran out) was supposed to look like....

That self-indulgent "Fixing A Hole" joke from Paul makes me cringe every time, and I think it's funny that whenever the last scene is referenced in a news bit about YS, it's edited out.

I love that whole scene.

What are you talking about getting edited out of, though? You've seen that get played on the news?

Yeah, I don't get that either. Are you saying there's some deliberate effort not to reference a single specific line in a single scene?

I don't mind that joke myself, although Paul's exaggerated delivery of it does annoy a bit. They'd already established the "Sea Of Holes"/Blackburn, Lancashire/Albert Hall connections earlier, so the "Fixing A Hole" connection was the only one left, really.

Another favourite moment:

Jeremy
: The footnotes for my 19th book! This is my standard procedure for doing it; and while I compose it, I'm also reviewing it!
John: Were your notices good?
Jeremy: It's my policy never to read my reviews.

One more, from Ringo: "I'd jump into the Mersey, but it looks like rain."

George: Maybe we should call a road service

Paul: Can't, no road

Ringo: And we're not sub...scribers

a-hard-days-night-ringo-14

And...

Ringo: Hey, I wonder what'll happen if I pull this lever.

Old Fred: Oh, you mustn't do that now.

Ringo: Can't help it. I'm a born "Lever-puller"
