This would never fly today. The footage starts at about :08 in.

*wipes tear away* Love you Ringo.

You would never be able to sing this on television now. It would "offend" the little ones.

Does anybody know who wrote this song? All I know is that it wasn't Ringo!

Oh, my God, Zig, that was fantastic! I didn't recognize any of the other life-size cut out people save for Reagan, but I imagine they were all politicians, and I nearly died when I saw all the paintings of the...plants. :D

As I was listening to it, though, I couldn't help think "Ringo, man, take your own advice!" I'm just glad he's clean *now*.

I think the song was done originally by Hoyt Axton.

Did Paul ever appear or work with The Smothers Brothers on their show or otherwise?

"We are all a little weird and life's a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love." — Dr. Seuss

StarWisher's right - it was Hoyt Axton, writer of that bullfrog song.

That performance, and the actions, is both brilliant, funny and completely non-PC nowadays. Love it. Great post Zig, never seen that before.
