OfflineThe movie was mostly based on a dream that Paul had. The movie was mostly his idea, and he directed it as well, if I remember correctly. The scene with the Spaghetti was a dream that John had had.
I enjoy the movie for what it is. Really, they were just enjoying themselves. Right, plus drugs. It was the 60's after all.

OfflineStill havent bought it and no plans too. Got pissed that the original song mixes were changed and hate revisionism (Still pissed that Yoko reworked the Lennon promos for the Lennon Legend DVD). If i want to see it i have the BBC screening from last year as well as the Arena documentary on Sky+. Apple can go spin.

Offline^^ Like your new icon, mmm.
I wish we could see either the Arena documentary or PBS special on YouTube – I think they're the same. And what's on the DVD is reportedly only a fraction of either. ![]()

OfflineCouldnt resist. I love the Rubber Soul cover, its my fave album cover ever (followed by Beatles For Sale), and so to finally have the uncropped original was freaking awesome.
Surprised that the Arena documentary hasnt been shown in the US as they usually get most BBC documentaries sooner or later.

OfflineI really think the PBS special *was* the Arena documentary. But I haven't had a proper TV since we switched from analog to digital television here, so I missed the airing. And it looks like any attempt to upload on YouTube gets squashed immediately.

Offline^^ Just found that PBS is streaming the hour-long documentary at their site. And it is the same as the Arena special.

OfflineThey showed the PBS special in January near where I live (Boston area)…I enjoyed it, as well as the remastered film. I've always loved that film, it's a precursor to a lot of the nonsensical Monty Python humor of the late 60s/early 70s (which I love). And you can't beat the music!

OfflineI finally came up in the library queue for the DVD of MMT and watched it with the director's commentary and then watched all the extras. Loved the different versions of the promos for "The Fool on the Hill," "Blue Jay Way" and "Hello Goodbye" that aren't in the movie. I'd never seen all the extra footage of Paul walking around the market or the boys playing soccer or sitting in the editing room (Paul's hat…). I'm impressed with how extensive the extras were, and I'm definitely putting a copy of this on my wishlist.
In the meantime, has anyone come across HD screencaps or gifs of the extras? I'm surprised they aren't all over Tumblr at least. The only image I've come across is a shirtless Paul screencap from TFotH, so I wonder if Apple has been going after anyone who puts them up.

OfflineDon't forget the Easter Eggs as well. The long (and somewhat pointless) fish & chips scene is pleasant in it's everyday banality.
Here are the best screencaps you'll probably find:

Click each one to enlarge. If you create an account with them, you can get them in 1080p if you're logged in. I have an account and I checked. They're full-screen images, but they do have a watermark in the bottom right-hand corner.

Offline^^ Thank you, thank you! Whoever made them doesn't think like a fangirl, but they are nice quality. ![]()
I always forget to look for Easter Eggs, and then I re-read this thread. I found directions for getting to them at the Examiner.

Offline^^ I think they're that thing that films have in them. I think you click on them or something and it plays a part of the film that you don't see if you don't click on it, or something.

Easter Eggs… Am I missing something?
They're "hidden" extras on DVDs and Blu-rays. You have to dig around to highlight the portal that'll take them to you. Click on that Examiner link, it mentions the goodies in the MMT one.

OfflineI watched MMT again a few weeks ago…I still love that film. Maybe it's because I first saw it on a grainy VHS copy my uncle had in the late 1980s, but I've always been a fan of that absurd/nonsensical British humor like Monty Python, and MMT in a way paves the way for that. Plus the music kicks ass!

OfflineI Googled Easter eggs and I discovered that typing
=rand(insert number here, insert number here)
in a Word document and then pressing enter generates a bunch of paragraphs that are apparently Word instructions or something.
