Amazon has it listed at $66.49. Not too cost-prohibitive, considering what you get with it.
Canadian Amazon or American?

But seriously, I'm excited about this (and that we have more Canadians posting).

OfflineJohn did enjoy filming it despite his comments in some interviews. He supposedly raved about it in a 1980 interview and you can tell in parts of the film.
Its not like Apple to ignore a big promotional push and what better than when everyone is saying "Today John Lennon was born in 1940 and would be 72", now they can throw in "and today Magical Mystery Tour is being released for the first time in who knows how long…"

Have just realised that the MMT DVD is being reissued pretty much 50 years to the day Love Me Do was released in the UK (5th October). All the talk of it being the same day as Johns 72nd birthday meant it never occured to me. I doubt its coincidence.]

OfflineThere were screenings of MMT in the US so maybe the idea comes from there (but they might have been in the 70's).
Warning! Rant Ahead
It will also make Apple money, lots of money, from the fans who rush out and see it. Both Apples are excellent at fleecing fans. I recently read an article about Apple (the ipod one) which said that at one time Apple were at the forefront of exciting, new leaps into undiscovered regions of technology and its advancement and its subsequent effect in and upon society but now its more about money and the updates are getting less monumental with every passing launch event. Thought that that nicely fitted into the other Apple who are more than willing to give us toe nail clipper sharpers and marshmallow protective covers whilst we know fine well whats sitting gathering dust and developing rigor mortis (as am I). Give us something to faint over for f~*^ sake. I dont want Beatle scrabble, it doesnt make me giddy with delight. MMT is good and we are getting some unreleased stuff but come on. Waken up and stop ripping us off.
I would normally go without a minutes hesitation but £10 for a so-so 50 minute film + bonus's. Plus there is travel and food costs so past £20. I can get the deluxe boxset for £30 on amazon.co.uk. I cant justify it but its The Beatles on the big screen. Yellow Submarine and A Hard Days Night were really good movies as was the George Harrison documentary but MMT is not.
DAMN BEATLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!![]()

OfflineGranted, I don't think it was ever intended to be a genuinely good film; just another sort of outlet for their more madcap tendencies, a la their yearly fan club Christmas recordings (with, of course, the one from that year being the last one they all made in the studio together). And I'll still watch it over "Let It Be" any day… perhaps even "Help!" on some days.

OfflineTime to do some serious jumping up and down like youre 4 years old and just seen all the presents under the tree with your name on.
The Space have issued previously unseen footage of the Fish and Chip shop visit during filming the tv movie – and it looks wonderful. So cool to see 4 Beatles (and Mal) in such an informal setting.
If this is where Apple are going with releases than i'll wind down some of my bitterness towards them and their handling of the archives.
[What is about beatles and unseen fish and chips?]

OfflineSaw it on the big screen last night!
Although I enjoyed the experience of watching an original Beatles' movie in theaters, I agree that it isn't exactly a cinematic kind of movie…

OfflineI will be watching the documentary that mmm posted about, and the film after tommorow night. I only watched it about a month or so ago but never mind! I´m looking foward to it.
No, it´s not a brilliant film. And the songs in there don´t really make it worthwhile but it´s The Beatles, after all.

OfflineThe Times (one of the UK's biggest newspapers for folks who dont know) printed an article about MMT and were quite positive about the film. Will be interested to see what the weekend papers say about it since it is 2 beatles shows back to back, and that means it gets attention. Even crappy documentaries that have nothing to do with Apple get a small column when new and on tv in some newspapers.
Its not a great film and the stripper scene creeps me out (i dont need or want to see my 2 of my hero's leering over a stripper) but its got its good bits and it is the beatles (and Mal). So much so that im looking forward to both. I have the '88 video but havent watched it for a couple of years.
Has anyone here not seen it before? Would be interesting to read first timers opinions on the [tv] film.
Whats good snacking food for MMT? Im thinking Irn Bru (Scotlands biggest selling soft drink) and cheese tortilla chips/crisps.

Really? I never thought the Times would approve of MMT (from what I hear).
