(tho its totally amazing and should have been on the US soundtrack and why wasnt it)? Ken Thorne did the soundtrack so it was probably his decision what was used. Maybe they just fitted those parts and there is nothing more to it.

Yes, the strange marching band music, that in the movie shows John, George, and Ringo playing in and George taking a bite out of his cymbal, is during the award's ceremony for the skiing competition. I just found that on Youtube.

Now, why does that music sandwich the prelude to Act III of Wagner's Lohengrin on the Help! soundtrack?

Why is it titled "In the Tyrol"? Skiing in Austria?

Any other theories or answers as to why these musical selections were chosen for the movie and placed together on the album?

During the prelude to Act III, I was thrilled to hear some music that I actually recognized. Usually when I recognize a piece of opera, it's thanks to Bugs Bunny and "Looney Tunes". This time, however, it was thanks to THE BEATLES!
