I didn’t look through all 9 pages of this topic to see if this had been brought up, but is there any chance you could archive the shows so those of us who find out about them can review past episodes?  Like, there’s an indie band I sorta follow, the front girl and sometimes the whole band does a “sunday morning coffee break” show, and put it on youtube afterwards – but it’s only one song.  I realize an hour’s video would take a lot of storage, and I have not a clue on what sort of setup you have and how much it costs.  I’m going to start listening whenever I can remember – from the comments it sounds like a pretty cool show :)

Half of what I say is meaningless...

I feel good in a special way, I'm in love and it's a sunny day

We can’t archive for the same reason we can’t podcast: Apple would charge music licensing fees. Sorry, but that’s how it is, and there’s nothing I can do about it.

Enjoying the show. Never realized just how nervous McCartney sounds on that first attempt at “Love Me Do

Especially on the line “Someone to love…” he almost gags on that line. You kinda feel sorry for Macca. I can imagine how the other three Beatles, especially John, felt because they had to play on like nothing’s happening while poor Paul is drowning.

As @Into the Sky with Diamonds mentioned above, I will appear on his show Beatles and Friends this coming Friday night at 8 PM and this Sunday at noon. It was a lot of fun appearing on his program, and we’ve got some good stuff for you, so don’t ya dare miss it! a-hard-days-night-ringo-15

As for this week’s Fab Files, we continue our look at the Anthology albums with Anthology 2 , which covers the Rubber Soul , Revolver and Sgt. Pepper years for the band. We’ll hear first drafts of two Rubber Soul classics, hear an entirely different take of “Tomorrow Never Knows ” than what you’re used to, determine if John really buried Paul, and much more. Anthology 2 on this week’s Fab Files this Friday July 25 at 10 PM (EDT) on WETS FM/HD1, as well as this Saturday July 26 at 3 PM (EDT) and late Sunday July 27 at midnight (EDT) on WETS HD2. See the very first post in this topic for info on how to pick up the show online! And now Fab Files is on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/FabFilesonWETSFM

Can’t wait for both!

Thank you, wetsroosa, for last week’s show. I haven’t watched the Anthology shows yet, or read the book. Your commentary helped me understand the context of the songs you played. Appreciate it.

@Ahhh Girl You’ll love the Anthology series when you eventually get to it. It starts slow (the first DVD is about the early days and it can be a bit dry), but once it picks up it never lets up. Just good stuff all the way around. And I know the albums are a little bit of a sore for some of our Forumpudlians, but I love them because I’m always fascinated about seeing “work in progress” material, and one thing those albums have are a wealth of “work in progress” material.

@Ahhh Girl has heard much more of the Anthology albums than she realises (if not all?) as she has the full set of the Purple Chick deluxes.

The sore point with the Anthology releases is the amount of “outfakes” when we’d rather have had outtakes.

You’re right though, the Anthology series/DVD box set, she will love, and was worth the wait!

I’ve heard the albums, but they don’t always tell you where the song is from (the context). If the liner notes do, sorry, haven’t read them yet.

I’ll get there one of these days.

Ringo, the Beatles’ Yogi Berra?

On this week’s Fab Files we conclude our look at the Anthology albums with Anthology 3 , the time period from May 1968 to January 1970 that served as the final chapters on the story of the Beatles- the White Album , Let It Be and Abbey Road sessions. We check out a couple of songs from the famed Kinfauns sessions, hear two low-key renditions of George Harrison classics, listen to a song later made famous by Badfinger, and “The End “… even if it really wasn’t the actual end. Anthology 3 on this week’s Fab Files this Friday August 1 at 10 PM (EDT) on WETS FM/HD1, as well as Saturday August 2 at 3 PM (EDT) and late Sunday August 3 at midnight (EDT) on WETS HD2. On this week’s Fab Files we put the spotlight on Paul McCartney ‘s younger brother Michael McCartney, a.k.a. Mike McGear, who never achieved the fame or the legacy that Sir Paul did, but has had quite an interesting musical career of his own. We check out the very funny music he made in the ’60s with his comedy/poetry group The Scaffold as well as several solo songs, including a few from his 1974 solo album McGear, which happened to be produced by none other than big brother Paul. Mike McCartney/McGear on this week’s Fab Files this Friday August 8 at 10 PM (EDT) on WETS FM/HD1 as well as this Saturday August 9 at 3 PM (EDT) and late Sunday August 10 at midnight (EDT) on WETS HD2. On this week’s Fab Files it’s all about the ladies as the whole episode will look at the songs that were written with the Beatles’ better halves in mind. From Yoko (“Woman “) to Linda (“Maybe I’m Amazed “), from Pattie (“I Need You “) to Olivia (“Your Love is Forever”), and even including lovers like May Pang (“Surprise Surprise”) and Nancy Lee Andrews (“Las Brisas”), every song in this week’s show was written to the special lady in the life of a Fab Four man. Beatle Brides, on this week’s Fab Files Friday August 15 at 10 PM (EDT) on WETS FM/HD1, as well as Saturday August 16 at 3 PM (EDT) and late Sunday August 17 at midnight (EDT) on WETS HD2. a-hard-days-night-ringo-8 I can’t get enough of Ringo’s Wonderful.

The first time I heard the See Your Sunshines song, I was walking with the dog down on the lake road. I am so glad I was in an isolated location because I DANCED madly down that gravel road. I kept repeating it.

This weekend marks the 50th anniversary of the Beatles’ concert at the Hollywood Bowl in Hollywood, CA so this week’s Fab Files will look at the 1977 live album The Beatles at the Hollywood Bowl, which is half the 8/23/64 show and half the two August 1965 shows from the same venue. The Beatles at the Hollywood Bowl is the only legitimate Beatles album that captures the band live in concert at its peak of Beatlemania in the U.S., and we’ll listen to that album in full, plus we’ll check out a couple of other songs from the 8/23/64 show as well as a few songs from the band’s last ever concert from the soon-to-be-demolished Candlestick Park in San Francisco. The Beatles at the Hollywood Bowl on this week’s Fab Files this Friday August 22 at 10 PM on WETS FM/HD1, as well as this Saturday August 23 at 3 PM and late Sunday August 24 at midnight on WETS HD2. On this week’s Fab Files the focus is on five working musicians with the names Lennon, McCartney, Harrison and Starkey. But instead of John, Paul, George and Ringo, we focus on Julian, Sean, James, Dhani and Zak. They are the sons of the Beatles and all of them chose to pursue music for a career, and it’s their music that gets the spotlight this week. From Julian’s 1984 debut to Zak’s stints with Oasis and the Who to Sean’s band with a rather lengthy name (Ghost of a Sabre Tooth Tiger), the sons have made some noteworthy and intriguing work on their own, and there’s even a Beatles cover where the son very much sounds like the father. Beatle Boys , on this week’s Fab Files this Friday August 29 at 10 PM (EDT) on WETS FM/HD1, as well as this Saturday August 30 at 3 PM (EDT) and this Sunday night August 31 at midnight (EDT) on WETS HD2. This September it’s “Know Your Beatle” month on the Fab Files as each episode this month will be dedicated strictly to a certain Beatle by highlighting his greatest hits, his moments of genius and his little known gems that are worth discovering. And on this week’s show we start off with the youngest Beatle, George Harrison . For years known only as the lead guitarist and the Indian music guy in the band, George would grow into his own as a songwriter and musician, and this episode will highlight that growth, starting from his first written composition, “Don’t Bother Me ,” all the way to his last album, 2001’s Brainwashed as well as a song from his time with the Traveling Wilburys, and much more. The Quiet Beatle, on this week’s Fab Files this Friday September 5 at 10 PM (EDT) on WETS FM/HD1, as well as this Saturday September 6 at 3 PM (EDT) and this Sunday September 7 at midnight (EDT) on WETS HD2.
