I love John's "My names Betty" and the bathroom scene, me and my friends have so many inside jokes with those XD. Also, George's scene with the shirts always makes me laugh, and I would name more scenes I loved, but I would probably be writing the script for the movie.

My mind is far away, off in Pepperland…

***1/2. Docked half a star because of a few lame slapstick bits that were already stale in 1964.

Also, I still think the "fire escape" sequence would've been better set to "I'll Cry Instead" than "Can't Buy Me Love". And why did they have to play it twice?

Haven't We already Discussed This? They used CBML Because it was a more upbeat and common Beatles Tune then ICI. I would have Prefered ICI, but that could be because CBML is just…..I don't like it.

The Version from the Film was issued as a George Martin Single

The film's absolutely amazing. The comedy inside this is just too funny. I think with it being their first film that they did REALLY well. They're naturals, well gorgeous. :)

That's interesting Von, because I always felt CBML fit the "running amok" scene better due to the pace of the song. I thought ICI (no, not French for "here") would have been better used during the "cop chase" scene.

In any event, I do agree they did not have to use the same song twice. This is still my favorite of the Beatles' movies.

What about You Can't Do That? Fast, and Not a repeated song

That is one of my favorite tracks on that album, mr. S. The title of the song would be perfect for a cop chase scene, no? Especially when they show the guy trying to break into a car.

I'm not sure, but I also seem to remember seeing footage of George being interviewed wherein he said that song was one of his favorites to play live. Maybe you or someone else can shed some light on that.

I couldn't find anything funnier than that.

I don't know what footage you refer to, but A quick Youtube search didn't reveal the answer. Perhaps you read it in Anthology? (That Reminds me, now that My Brother's on vacation in Greece, I'll have time to finish it this weekend.)

Lucky you! I still haven't seen it – I saw it in Best Buy for over 100 bucks, but the hell with that! I can buy it on Amazon for half of that (and will, someday soon.)

"You Can't Do That" would've worked just fine for the cop-chase sequence, I agree. Or who knows, even "It Won't Be Long" or some other fast one?  ("I Wanna Be Your Man" and "She Loves You" were already in the movie so it's not like they were restricted to new-songs-only.)

But they were only cameo songs ie. quick versions.

Now that I think about it, it may have been in the LiB movie that I watched on YT. Thanks for jarring my memory – that's not an easy task!

Paul's fictional Grandfather, Portrayed by (I think) Victor Spinnetti.

Edit: It's actually Wilfred Brambell.
