No idea if this has been posted here before. Apologies if it has.

Talk of the Anthology Dvds elsewhere was a reminder that you get to hear the rejected ending to A Day In The Life in the directors cut. The original idea was many people going 'ommm' but it was replaced by the famous piano note crescendo. In the video below George Martin talks about it from 5:48 and you then get to hear it from 6:13.

I just adore George Martin's accent. Thanks!

I tried to think of something powerful and moving… and failed.  "You were given a choice between war and dishonor - you chose dishonor, and you shall have war" - Winston Churchill

a-hard-days-night-ringo-8 I agree. My goal in English is to have a "George Martin" accent.

Thanks for sharing the vid. I'd not heard the Om before. I was surprised to hear George describe the idea as pathetic – I quite like it, though the pianos were clearly better.

Please don't spoil my day; I'm miles away

Good one.

The Anthology  DVD is wonderful. My only slight criticism of it when it came out was that there was no mention of the Beatles' "long" hair and its impact. When the Beatles first arrived, that's really all anyone could talk about. And even today, any guy who likes to wear his hair a little on the long side owes a debt to the Beatles.

Thanks very much for posting that. mal-evans

After becoming so accustomed to the piano fade, I agree with Sir George that the ommm is pathetic by comparison. Had it been the final version, I may have felt differently.

Someone had posted a link to the director's cut a while back but I think it was cut up into brief You Tube segments like the one you found above. Does anyone know where to find that version in longer form? I would love to see it.

A quick google search will bring up some places but i think it would be via download or buying the dvds. As always you would have to be very very careful where you go and its not something i have done. Any site that did/does upload them would hear from Apple lawyers very quickly.

Youtube have taken down a lot of beatles videos including nearly all of the Anthology Directors Cut as well as the Let It Be movie. paul-mccartney
