Many years from now -so to speak - when the definite McCartney bio will be written, "Many Years From Now" will perhaps be seen as Volume 1.

One weird thing a friend told me is that it ends in 1970 with the Beatles' breakup...that's not really a full-fledged biography, then, is it? More like a "setting the record straight on the Beatles years" memoir.

I was a little disappointed by that. Guess Paul wasn't ready to talk about Wings and beyond, plus I suppose Miles was less involved in his life and so much of the book hinges on his recollections as well. I still love the book though. Happy reading!

I disagree with some of his assessments (he really hates all of the "heavy" Beatles songs) and sometimes he's a bit too clinical but overall it's a great book.

It's substantially improved - it has all the Anthology information, plus various other amendments (I haven't compared them, but Macdonald would have gone through all the latest information that emerged in the mid 1990s, and added what was relevant). If you have a first edition and enjoy reading it, I recommend getting the final version too.
