My copy of the Extended has arrived, and is almost with me. (It was ordered via a friend as I don't do credit cards!) It will be dropped off later this evening, or first thing tomorrow! Yay!

Amazon. The order went in the moment it was listed, and heard about Hive much later. Since I had someone else doing it for me, I didn't want to mess them around.

Get her to remind you to eat and sleep occasionally during the next few months. :-)

Ah okay. For a second I thought mine might arrive soon too. Enjoy much :)

Hoi mede-Nederlander, wat leuk! Welkom! Mag ik vragen waar jij hem hebt besteld?

I'm in a dilemma whether I should buy studybooks first or this book. I've actually seen it in a bookstore and read a couple of pages and now I KNOW what I'm missing and I really can't live without this book. No.

Hate to say it, Linde, cos I can understand your dilemma, but your study and future career is more important than most things – and definitely more important than reading about the Beatles. a-hard-days-night-ringo-6a-hard-days-night-ringo-14

Can you not ask for it for Sinterklass (have I spelt that right?)

Oh it's not like I have my priorities wrong, I'm just thinking about what to buy first. Chances are high my studybooks might be a bit cheaper if I buy them next month. On the other side, I do kind of need them now. Meh.

Nope. Too expensive. I'll buy my studybooks first and the Lewisohn book next month or so then. I can wait.

Dag Linde,

Inderdad leuk om hier een andere Nederlander tegen te komen. Ik heb het boek bij Amazon.co.uk besteld. Heb er 74 pond voor betaald. Zie dat-ie nu 120 pond kost. Zou The Hive proberen. Daar is-ie geloof ik een stuk goedkoper.

Can people please remember that the language of this forum is English! It is a common language to all here. Do not be surprised if, in future, a response made entirely in a language other than English is deleted. The idea of this forum is for all members to be able to communicate with each other, and to comment on what all have had to say. That cannot be done if the vast majority of the community do not understand the language.

Should you wish to address someone in a common language to the both of you other than English, then you are perfectly welcome to send them a PM.

There is also a more serious reason for the restriction to English on the forum. Whilst, as moderators, we hope to do as little as possible, were offensive statements or arguments to break out in a language that none of the moderators understood, how would we be able to judge what was happening dispassionately and fairly?

In future, forum posts that are wholly, or largely, in any language other than English will be deleted.

To follow on from this, although I don't really have a problem with non-English posts, they do exclude a lot of people from understanding and responding. If it's a private conversation it is better, as mja says, to chat via PM. But I really don't have a problem with, as in this case, the occasional side-note to someone in another language.

The basic rule of this forum is don't be obnoxious (note: I'm not applying that term to anyone here). So chat away freely, but if it's to the detriment of the majority then it's not really fair. Hope that's OK!

Fricken' hell. At this rate previously undiscovered tribes buried deep in the middle of nowhere with the only access via a 36 month journey thru treacherous waters and rival communities who fire poisonous darts at anything that moves will be getting their copies before those who ordered from Hive. How can it take a company based in the UK 3 weeks longer to get a book available to customers in the UK than every other company thru-out the Universe?

George is sad with you.

The guys will keep watch for you until it arrives. They can't figure out why you don't have your copy yet either.

For those who ordered with Hive

After sending them an email they wrote back

"Apologies, due to high demand for this title we have been advised by the publisher that they are currently out of stock of the item and hope to send stock to us early December"

So there it is.

Sigh.

The Deluxe Extended has gone up to it's full rrp. of £120 on Amazon. That's unusual for them – I wonder if this is a reflection of a (naively) limited stock/print run.

I heard it sold out on pre-orders and is going to a second/third printing. As for the Hive delivery dates, that sucks. I must have been lucky to get mine from them on time.
