I've tried several times of late to post but I wasn't being allowed to log on! Had another bash this morning from work and all is OK. Need to try again from home (which is where I had the problems).

Thanks for clarifying. Most of his American efforts (Post Imagine) are extremely hit and miss.

I think if you're going to get all of Lennon's albums, that should be a priority as it's got some important songs (Beautiful Boy, Starting Over, Woman). But I don't think it's a classic by any means. Let's face it, apart from JL/POB and Imagine, John wasn't really an albums artist.

As for the thing I wrote above, some books can bring to life something and help you hear things that weren't there before. The musicians who played on DF spoke so favourably about it that I thought I might have missed some previously hidden wonderment, but I didn't find it ...

Just finished this. An excellent book, very witty in places and it makes you revisit that awful day in December 1980 and you just wonder "If only he hadn't died". All the musicians give a very in-depth analysis of the sessions and say just how happy he was at that time.
