Got an email from Genesis - official photos from the event are up here.

And if you're feeling flush, the book and limited edition art prints are available to order.

The limited prints - £1,900 each but that comes with a frame which seals it; without the frame it was way too pricey but with and its a bargain.

LOL.

I think this book should come out in a nice, cheap paperback edition.

Got a couple of emails from Genesis publications. From the first one:

Next week the Genesis team will be joining Ringo in Las Vegas to celebrate the launch of his new book PHOTOGRAPH.

We invite you to explore a free walk-through exhibit of Ringo's photographs, hosted at the Palms Casino Resort. Ringo will also be playing two nights at the Pearl Concert Theater. See full details below.

For those who wish to really make a weekend of it, Genesis is able to offer a VIP package with your choice of framed print, accomodation and concert tickets, available here.

Edit: Took a look at the VIP package, and just want to note that you do get to meet Ringo as part of the deal. Strikes me as a far better deal than the LA one, other than the fact the book itself isn't included.

and in the second, a couple of quotes about a deteriorated photo of John:

In creating his limited edition book, PHOTOGRAPH, Ringo discovered hundreds of forgotten negatives.

"We finally found them in a basement in storage. I was shocked. We even found two books of negatives. Who thought I was that tidy?"

Pictures taken of his Beatles band mates in Miami were on the brink of deterioration when he pulled them from the archives.

"As you can tell, I didn't take care of these slide. But they look arty to me."

Can we please talk about HOW EXPENSIVE THIS BOOK IS?  WTF Ringo?  a-hard-days-night-ringo-14  I'm sure it's great, but I will never buy it, even if I can afford it.  He must know that a large majority of your fans will never be able to afford this book.

"Please don't bring your banjo back, I know where it's been..  I wasn't hardly gone a day, when it became the scene..  Banjos!  Banjos!  All the time, I can't forget that tune..  and if I ever see another banjo, I'm going out and buy a big balloon!"

a-hard-days-night-ringo-8It's nothing new having way overpriced books from musicians. George had 2 at least with the Songs of George Harrison volumes 1 & 2 and wasn't I, Me, Mine originally a vastly expensive release and it took years for a cheaper edition to come out?

^^ And I sense that might have been solely Olivia's decision.

I do hate that certain Beatle-related books will never be available to the general public because of the Genesis exclusives. Like Derek Taylor's book. At least there's an ebook version of Ringo's, even though you have to have an iPad to view it. I hope one day he makes it more accessible.

Was Ringo's Postcards from the Boys an expensive release first before the cheaper edition came out? All i can remember is my sister picked up a copy of it for me in one of those poundshops, which i then promptly left behind in the hotel we were staying in for Christmas.a-hard-days-night-ringo-14

It was, and also by Genesis.

So there still remains every possibility of a more standard publication down the line.

All 2500 copies have sold out. BTW, there's a photo of Ringo with Harry Nilsson at that link. If I didn't mention it before, Ringo mentioned during the panel that Harry was his best friend - something I hadn't heard before.

Sure hope there'll be a mass-produced version.

I'm sure they will do. That they write "Only 2,500 signed copies will ever be made" suggests there will be unsigned copies, probably in hardback and paperback - but probably with a year or two waiting period before there is.

£5 does seem a real bargain.a-hard-days-night-paul-7
