New Philip Norman Paul McCartney biography,Paul McCartney :The Life coming out in the US in May, and the UK in June.Interestingly the description on the UK amazon is more extensive and it says that some of Paul McCartney ‘s Wings songs are as great as his Beatles songs. So after Philip unjustly minimized Paul’s great contributions to The Beatles,he’s finally giving him the credit he so rightly deserves.

Also I haven’t read Philip Norman’s John Lennon :The Life book, but I first read the excellent, empathetic book,Lennon by award winning music journalist and former Melody Maker editor Ray Coleman in 1985, a few years ago I got the updated version, and I still believe it’s the most accurate and the most to be trusted.

Ray met John as an early Beatle in 1962,and he remained good friends with John right till the end, and he spent a lot of time with him and interviewed him over these 18 years. He does report John’s bad sides and behavior, but he also knew and reports his good sides and qualities and he totally understands John and how he was psychologically damaged by the traumas in his childhood and teens and how he worked on himself and changed for the better especially during his last 5 years of his life. He says in the introduction, that to know John was to love him,Phillip Norman never really knew John and wasn’t a friend!

Also if Philip Norman did such a ”good job” on this John biography, then why do quite a few people say in reviewing it that John was a horrible insensitive person and that reading the book made them hate John!? Like this review on Barnes and Noble.com titled,A good Read But Drags On, that says that John was a horrible insensitive person and that he made fun of black, gay, and mentally and physically disabled people(this was when John was a *very young psychologically messed up guy*!),and said he deserved to survive the bullets and be a brain damaged quadriplegic!

It’s very obvious that Philip Norman writes a lot of sensationalism a lot that isn’t even true to sell his books! He’s probably going to do the same thing with his new Paul biography too unfortunately.

I metioned this book in the “new books” thread. https://www.beatlesbible.com/f…..5/#p206445

The book has passed Paul’s sniff test.

I fixed the topic title and moved the thread to the books forum.

Well than learn not to be ”suspicious” there isn’t anything to be ”suspicious” of and that is ridiculous. I often type subjects in capital letters on other forums and in my emails as well.

And after I posted what I did about Paul’s new biography and the valid points I made about Philip Norman’s book about John it was an ignorant, insensitive thing to say  it’s very clear that I am a big true Beatles fan and I see some members thanked you for this but none thanked *me* for posting this topic in the first place as I would have done to anyone else for posting this.

Also you are all very welcome for letting you know about the new Paul biography and what I explained about how it looks like Philip is finally giving Paul the music credit he so rightly deserves after unjustly minimizing and underrating him for years especially in his Beatles book Shout, including recognizing that some of his Wings songs are as great as his Beatles songs.

I also did not write the posts in all capital letters some people do sometimes on sites to express how strongly they feel about a topic.

There was nothing wrong with your original post, @Randie; it was just the location that needed correction. And we prefer our topic titles not to be ALL IN CAPS WITH EXTRANEOUS EXCLAMATION POINTS!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you very much Necko, exactly it is more than blatantly clear from the subject alone and more so from what I posted about it.

I don’t think that I used even one exclamation point in the subject, but if I did I certainly didn’t use many like you used here. But even if I had, or anyone did,it’s just because they are expressing the passionate feelings as a fan,and I would really think that Beatles fans on a Beatles fan site would share and understand this.

Well when I post a topic of course I want to try to  get as much attention as possible and capital letters in a subject does this.

The part of the thread title I was mainly fixing was to take out the idea of it be a new/forthcoming book because it won’t always be new/forthcoming. I wanted the thread to be able to be used for the long run…for discussion about it after it was released. But maybe we will start a fresh thread when the book is released.

And, yes, the all caps thing for topic titles isn’t a forum favorite.

So you will know for the future so you can settle in comfortably on the forum, when posts are in a font that differs from the normal forum font, the post is read with red flags going off in people’s minds.

Every forum has its own culture, @Randie. I had no problem with anything you posted, only with the capitalisation of the title, something I tripped over myself when I first joined. The way you wrote your title, pointing to both the UK and US release dates, and having it all in capitals, made it look almost like the header you see on a press release. There was nothing wrong with your posts though, and I made no comment on them.

Whether it was me, or someone else, somebody would have said they didn’t like the presentation of the title. As others have said, we do not really like capitalised thread titles here. I truly hope you will spend time here, get to know the pleasant and supportive community we have formed, and learn for yourself – with the occasional stumble maybe – how things work here, and what a great bunch of people we really are.

Everybody here who are familiar with how things are on other forums ends up commenting on how different this forum is to other forums. I hope you’ll stick around to find that out for yourself.

Always got the feeling Norman has something against Paul, so I was really surprised to hear he is doing a book on him. Interesting.

I’ve been looking forward to this one for a long time, like over a year since I first heard about it. Especially since Paul gave Norman his blessing to speak to anyone he needed to…quasi-authorized, but it should be miles better than the two unauthorized Paul bios I’ve read. I’m currently re-reading Paul’s authorized autobio Many Years From Now so I think this will probably supplement it nicely.
