Leave it to Ahhh Girl’s wandering mind to make that connection :-)

Re: the forgotten songs show – You mentioned that you couldn’t tell what they were saying during the high notes in Tell Me Why . That makes me think about the differences between folks like you and me in the timing of when we learned about The Beatles. One of those differences is that I’ve always had the internet where I can easily call up the lyrics to the songs.

And…you played “my” song. heartapple01

I just finished listening to the women’s names show. I learned something new

I didn’t know about the Layla song

, and this is the first time I remember listening to Oh, Yoko all the way through. That’s a really good song.

In case you missed this post, I thought you might like it.

The song you mentioned in your spoiler had always been one of Zag’s favorites. It’s a “must stop and listen” whenever we hear it. When I told her about the connection to which you are no doubt referring, she liked it even more. Then, when I told her that one of our all-time favorite guitarists played slide on it, she was thrilled.

Duane Allman

As for ‘Oh, Yoko’, I adore that song.

Listening to Ron’s radio show featuring Nick – cool so far. Listening link is on the page prior to this one.

EDIT: Well done, lads! Enjoyed the AHDN tunes.

re: the colors show

The Beatles crayon box. Yep, I feel a post forming in my mind.

Yellow and blue make green. That’s what I thought of when you were saying the lines from Ringo’s song.

Thanks for asking, meanmistermustard.

You can catch (most) prior shows at:

The first WETSRoosa interview can be found at “Fab Files” from Tennessee with a picture of the “Junior’s Farm” single.

Is this where your radio shows are kept? I always wondered what happened to them as the first one focusing on the top 5 chart when the Beatles held all slots in 1965 was so damn enjoyable but just thought they couldnt be upped. And now i get all these to listen to.a-hard-days-night-ringo-6

No idea if this is the right place for the radio show but have gotten all but two of the ones i haven’t heard onto my ipod and listened to ‘Mothers’ about 30 minutes ago. A very enjoyable mixture of Beatles and non-Beatles music. Never heard that track by the ‘Mama’s and the Papa’s’ before  @Into the Sky with Diamonds, what was it called? ‘Mother And Child Reunion’ is one of my favourite Paul Simon tracks and had never picked up on the link to ‘Let It Be ‘ before so thats cool. Really looking forward to all the others. 30 minutes is too short.apple01apple01apple01

Thanks, meanmistermustard. That Mamas and Papas song is “Creeque Alley” – all about the Mamas and Papas, Lovin’ Spoonful, and I forget what other band(s) in their formative years.

Wow, there is a lot of information for me to absorb in the name change show! I shall have to listen to it a few more times.

This is the first time I had heard the Paul and Jimmy Fallon Scrambled Eggs songs. I was out walking with my dog. One neighbor was out painting his house. I didn’t see him before I laughed out loud. He turned and looked at me. Oh, well.

You played both of these, and I couldn’t help but put them together.

Please, Please Me got mixed with “Won’t you please, please help me?”, and they showed up in my mind as

Please, Please (Help !) Me

Considering his state of mind, Lennon might as well have been singing Please, Please, Help Me!

The Scrambled Eggs skit with Jimmy Fallon is great – glad you enjoyed it. I think Fallon does a pretty good harmony!

Thanks for listening!

I taught two sections of our “freshman experience” course yesterday. I used your book as my example for doing a title search in the library catalog. While looking at the first part of the title in the search box, I asked the students what they thought the book would be about. One student in the first class said, “space”. In both classes, a few students knew the Lucy song. :-) ‘Twas fun.

Re: your show on the songs they gave away. First the cheesy, obligatory quip, “Those songs had Lennon and McCartney written all over them.” Now that we have that out of the way….

One of the first things I remember getting involved in on the forum was a round of The Baker’s Dozen game about the songs they gave away.

I’m glad someone recorded them. They really are wonderful songs.

OK, by popular demand on this week’s “Beatles and Friends” show it’s The BEATLES v the ROLLING STONES.

What song was written by Lennon-McCartney for the Stones? Which Stone played on a Beatle song and what song was it?

What song did Lennon, K Richards (on bass), Clapton and Jimi Hendrix’s drummer Mitch Mitchell perform live?

I asked wetsroosa this question on the Fab Files thread, and I was wondering the same thing for your show. Can I or anyone get a transcript of your spoken parts from an episode?

Your Beatles v Stones episode wasn’t all about how they looked or about their perceived reputations with the fairer sex. The music is great! Keep up the good work.

Oooh – I know all the answers to those questions! Do I get an autographed copy of the transcript? Wishing you a good show. Break a lip.

@Zig but of course! (Then again, most people on this erudite forum probably know the answers!)

@Ahhh Girl Yes, I can provide a Word document printout of the script to any show. Just let me know!

In the meantime, on the ‘Race to the Moon’ side of the equation here’s a funny clip:
