Yeah...perhaps we oversold it a bit But it *is* sad when you consider she's pushing 80 and still feels that much regret and resentment. Understandable that she does, but still...it's sad.

Linde, glad you liked Cynthia's book. I agree with you, it seemed like she NEVER got over John, even to the very end, but it was a bit sad how much it held her back in the 70s. Still, I supposed it's understandable. Although when you read that final paragraph, it's really quite sad and puts the rest of the entire book in stark relief.

^^ As Katie said, she doesn't reveal anything new about George or her marriage to him. I enjoyed it though. I didn't know that much about her before I read it and now I do so it's good enough for that reason alone, in my opinion. Depends if you're interested in her life before she met George, as she speaks a fair bit about her childhood and young adulthood in London in the middle of the Swinging Sixties.

It was OK, nothing great but I liked her section on her marriage to Eric more then George's. I wished she'd told me one-off anecdotes or stories about her marriages to either of them (but particularly George's of course). She told it as it is but we'd already heard all of the little bits she mentions George cheating on her with Maureen, Eric's ex etc. Nothing new really but ...

I've always liked Cynthia she seems really sweet in all the interviews I've seen of her and read and the way Julian talks about her. From what I can remember of having read Pattie's book she never really seemed to be the whole "even through my struggling marriage with Eric, I knew George still loved me" which is what I like about Pattie she just seemed to be "c'est ...

I really like it, though all this ''I loved him and I knew he loved me'' crap is getting a bit old. I'm at 1976 right now and while I gained a bit of sympathy for Yoko (or Hokie, as Julian used to call her) after the Jonathan Ross interview, I've now nearly lost all of it.

There is a book that somebody mentioned the other day (mmm?) which discusses each theory surrounding John's death. My parents bought it a few years ago and we don't have it any longer, I dunno if it's still in print. That would be quite good if that's what you're doing your essay on. Maybe try ebay?

Have you read J.L. letters? I know it's not a biography as such but some of the letters reveal quite a bit about where his mind was at different times in his life? Could be useful.

I'm also planning to get Julia Baird's book!
And maybe another George book
