I just got in a few more new ones to review:

Beatles Memorabilia: the Julian Lennon Collection

The Beatles at Shea Stadium

The Complete Beatles Recording Sessions (Lewisohn’s book…I’ve owned it since the early 90s and was sent this what I thought was an update but is really the same book with a new cover!)

I’m jealous of you with your free Beatles books

I think I have gotten 2 Beatles books (?) since I last posted on this thread, both of them large picture books though, ye know the ones with amazing pictures you have never seen before but the history sections are riddled with errors? Yep 2 of them

Just got my copy of Debbie Gellar’s In My Life : The Brian Epstein Story from Amazon and will soon read it.

Been on big Brian Epstein kick lately especially since reading Lewisohn’s Tune In and Tiwary’s The Fifth Beatle. Just want to know more about the man–highly understated as to his true importance to the Beatles’ story, I think.

That Epstein book is very good. I think it’s got the most thorough account of his decline and death that I’ve read.

I’m about to sell a bunch of my Beatles books and magazines to Rockaway Records. In the midst of this decluttering, which even included buying a bookcase from IKEA, I realized I’d practically need another one for all the Beatle stuff I’ve amassed in just the past year. So, I instituted a rule that unless I REALLY love the book (e.g. Many Years from Now, Revolution in the Head, the Mad Day Out coffee table book), and I can get the book at the library, I don’t need to keep it. I’m still waffling on keeping Cynthia’s John.

Once when moving house I gave away a load of Beatles books to charity shops, including (rather aptly) The Man Who Gave The Beatles Away by Allan Williams. I ended up buying them again years later, for much more money and in worse condition. I still regret doing it.

I wouldn’t say any of these are rare, considering I managed to find them all within the past year. I’ve been rather cheap with this collection, with the exception of Barry Miles In the Sixties, which cost a pretty penny Stateside and I’m definitely keeping. I’m just annoyed that certain books that weren’t important to me over a year ago are now more important than the need for increased space.

I managed to gather a good number of books to sell or donate, which I’ll do tomorrow. I decided to keep the ones I’m waffling on, such as John and Paul’s book of paintings, because I can always get rid of them later when I’m finally good and ready.

I got a few for my birthday…

  • Six Days That Changed America, a book with really great pictures detailing the Beatles first visit to the US. Read that quickly as it was just descriptions of the pictures. I enjoyed it.
  • 100 Things Beatles Fans Should Know & Do Before They Die, Self-explanatory, haven’t read it yet.
  • The Beatles Are Here, a book which collects many different Beatle fans’, musicians’, and others’ thoughts about the Beatles at the fiftieth anniversary of their arrival to America. Haven’t read that one yet either but seems pretty good from the skimming I’ve done.

If I spoke prose you'd all find out, I don't know what I talk about.

I have that. It’s really great. I just wish it had the orchestral parts.

Just ordered “Warum spielst du Imagine nicht auf dem weissen Klavier John” by Klaus Voorman but missed out on getting ‘Tune In’ because my bill was too high :( My mam said something along the lines of “you’ve given them enough feckin money get rid of that” but I have finished my ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ collection (yay)

Got it at a bargain even though it’s out of print and I get to learn more German vocabulary- happy days

Tedious link to post a link but i have the Get Back book as released in 1970 and so can you if you go here. Its a pdf file so you might want to hook up a printer.

Also if you scroll down this page near the bottom you will see a picture with a red background, right click and then select “save link as” and you’ll be able to save it as a pdf file on your computer so you can upload it to your tablet, ipod etc.

And some time ago, I got “The Beatles Anthology”!

Lennon – TMTMTMTDF (Riley)

McCartney – MYFN (Miles)

Harrison – IMM (Harrison)

…any suggestions for Richey?

@C.R.A., I’m not sure if you own these books or if you have just read them (borrowed from a friend or a library), but this seems to be a better thread for your post than the book reviewers thread which has a very specialized purpose and readership.

I, too, would like to know some good books about Ringo.

I’d like to read biographies on John and Ringo that are as absorbing as ‘Man On The Run: Paul in the Seventies’ and ‘George Harrison : Behind The Locked Door’. If anyone has recommendations i’d really appreciate them.

No one can turn down a free beatle book surely.

No idea if its any good but you can download ‘Abracadabra: The Complete Story of The Beatles’ Revolver ‘ for free (the website says so). Its here for those who want it.

The Beatles Live! At Balboa Stadium 1965‘, again from the website appears to be free and legit.
