8 cds is nothing. ‘A/B Road’ contains something like 83 cds of the ‘Get Back ‘ sessions.

That is insane…… a-hard-days-night-ringo-15

According to iTunes timings it would take 3 days 23 hours 52 minutes and 33 seconds to listen the whole way thru without breaks. And its not complete as rolls from various days are missing from the source tapes. a-hard-days-night-paul-7

There are none, its all objective and down to personal opinion and liking. Mention one and someone else will claim another release with the exact same tracks is mastered better or equalised better or has less noise reduction or if you listen on a super expensive piece of equipment you can hear the triangle better and Paul go “ooooh” right before the track cuts off.

It also kind of depends what you mean as far as which era or what specific material you’re looking for. There’s so much stuff out there that there’s no specific single bootleg album to meet all needs.

Anything by Lord Reith (BBC Archives, Holland ’64 (‘Looking Thru The Bent Back Tulips’), Germany ’62 (‘Za Laut’), Melbourne ’64 (‘Melbourne Meltdown’, Hollywood Bowl (‘Why Dont We Do It In The Bowl’), ‘Kicks, Kudos And Cash’ (1957 – 1962 home recordings & Decca audition); Helter Skelter ‘s Back To Basics and Moggical Mystery Tour sets, Release From Limitations (which is the White Album demo’s). I believe some Purple Chick and Lazy Tortoise collections still have some worth but much has been surpassed in terms of quality.

To answer OP, not even close. I love Anthology and listen to them often, but I still have (and listen to) sooooooo many more Beatles bootlegs, all of which I consider essential. These range from Anthology Outtakes to a ton of live stuff ’63-’66, studio outtakes and sessions, the rooftop concerts, the complete BBC sessions, and the complete January 1969 Get Back sessions to name but a handful.

This, totally.  There’s hundreds of variations of the Get Back /Let It Be sessions, but I’m not particularly interested in that era.

I think the single most cohesive bootleg you’ll get is the Esher demos which has been bootlegged loads of times – essentially the White Album ‘unplugged’.  That’s not to say it’s the best but it a ‘lost album’ quality (ie ‘what if the Beatles decided to make an accoustic-only album’).

The bootlegs I’ve heard that try to cover all eras tend to be just as unsatisfying as the official Anthology series to be honest.  There’s a few multi-disc Rubber Soul /Revolver Sessions ones I’ve heard but it really depends on your patience for hearing every single take of the same song in a row!

the White Album purple chick has ten CDs and makes for a really interesting listen, however i was disappointed by the revolver purple chick. The Twickenham/ apple sessions are exceptional because the beatles were never documented that closely before, and everything was released. Its more difficult to find a satisfactory bootleg from the middle period

The issue with Revolver is that there isn’t much circulating. Aside from the official Anthology era tracks you’re looking at a handful of monitor mixes, home demos and alternate mixes; not much bootleggers an do when the material isn’t there.

You can get oopsed bootlegs that break the tracks down but i personally have no interest in those as i hate that you can hear the rest of the track playing in the background.

Alright . . so someone who isn’t me has downloaded 15 of the 16 part file for A/B Road – is having trouble with the 8th part, can anyone message me with some suggestions to help this person who isn’t me?
