OfflineWe have the " best covers " topic ,
I couldn't find the worst covers topic ,
Can we have it ?
Now in my mind these samples :
Paul McCartney – All Shook Up (Elvis Presley)
The Carpenters – Help! (The Beatles)
Elvis Presley – Maybellene (Chuck Berry)

I came across a version of Day Tripper a black (sorry to be racist) female vocalist was singing it. I don't even think the singer knows what the vocals mean lol.
"When I was a robber *Piano Chord* in Boston Place"
"Let's hope this turns out pretty darn good huh"
"Pete may be the best, but Ringo is the star"
Paul:"Don't be nervous John"
John:"I 'm not"

OfflineEvery reality show cover thats ever existed. Unlistenable tripe.
Please Mister Postman – The Carpenters. Bores alone for an eternity. Heck any Beatle song the Carpenters covered, they all bore along for an eternity.

Their cover of "Ticket to Ride" is very interesting -- it's like someone said "How can I transform this song into something UTTERLY different than the original?" -- but it's pretty piss poor, nonetheless. Karen's affectations with her vocalisms are highly annoying (e.g., pregnant pauses and calculated missteps, etc.).

OfflineI like to imagine horrible (or strange) covers, just for fun:
Andy Williams -- "A Day in the Life"
Santana -- "Yellow Submarine"
Julie Andrews -- "Drive My Car"
William Shatner -- "I Want You"
Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris -- "Come Together"
Luciano Pavorotti -- "Mean Mr. Mustard" (actually, this one wouldn't be bad, come to think of it…)

The worst cover has to be Elvis' version of Hey Jude.
Elvis doing Get Back, admittedly more a jam but it blows. I havent heard his other beatle covers but i would imagine they would be poor especially if the screaming woman he had keep butting in and shrieking (see Suspicious Minds – a good song but those woman get on my nerves).
I watched the George Martin In My Life documentary on tv, well i started to but it had to get turned off as the covers were damn awful.

I'm a lifelong Carpenters fan, and while I don't like all their Beatles covers, I do love their TTR as much as the original, and have even performed them both.

The entire 'George Martin – In My Life' album. Every track.
I liked Jim Carrey's version of I am the Walrus, probably because of the music video that came along with it. Sean Connery did an ironic good job "singing" In my life.

Some of the Across the Universe movie covers were surprisingly good, but one of the covers that will scar me for life is Eddie Izzard doing Mr. Kite. Oh God, it was so awful.
When other people sing Beatle songs you notice the lyrics more, they don't feel the same when the Beatles sang it. I Want to Hold Your Hand sounds weird when it's sang slowly.
The movie: SPLHCB ruined almost all of the songs, especially the robots part.

OfflineI think it's safe to say that there is no cover that would top the original Beatle version, even if it's a song the Beatles covered themselves.
Anyone watched the video where the Beatles did a bad cover of themselves?

OfflineI've seen that before. I always laugh at it, because they make fun of themselves like they released those songs a lifetime before, but it had only been six years since Please Please Me, and only four since Help. I guess that's the pace they had to move at though, always shifting and changing.

Actually, I agree with Gerell. I like Jim Carrey's demented "I Am the Walrus," Goldie Hawn's "A Hard Day's Night", and love Sean Connery's recitation of "In My Life" – particularly considering James Bond's derogatory comments in Goldfinger.

OfflineThe other guy singing the "bass" of Come Together did a pretty good job along with Robin Williams. Robin Williams almost sounded like Joe Cocker!

OfflineEvery time a musician performs a concert and does his stuff, he's doing "covers". 98% of the time, to me the concert version is inferior to the recorded. I saw McCartney and Wings way back in the day, and while it was exciting and fun to see, not one song he and his band performed was as good as the recorded version.
