And so tomorrow it will be 50 years since The Beatles appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show.

In my blog I ask the question: where were you at that time? http://itwas50yearsago.blogspo.....-1964.html

I'd love to hear your stories, here or on my blog!

As for me, not even on this earth as of yet :(  Wish I was!  Would have LOVED to join in the excitement and fun!  My parents and older siblings all can remember the event and have shared stories about it for years with me.  It was one cool night in our household, as history recalls :)

Only about 4 or 5 regular posters on this forum who WERE even alive then, as far as I know, unfortunately for your blog, loretta. (I myself wouldn't be conceived for another 3 years.)

I didn't exist yet. My mother didn't exist yet. My father was extremely young, too young to remember it. And my parents' parents didn't exactly approve of the Fab Four due to the Generation Gap. So, sadly, nobody in my family really remembers it.

I was over just under 17 years away from coming into existence when they arrived for their first US visit.

It was even longer before my existence. Actually, this is even before my mom's existence! I think my grandparents got married in 1964 :)

OK, so I am the first to respond to this thread who was actually alive. But alas, I was only 3 months and 3 days old. I would have to ask my mother where I was.

Which brings up an interesting point. I can't believe I've never asked my parents if they remember watching. They both enjoy the Beatles now (especially Paul), but I don't know how they felt about them then (they were born in 1938 and 1940 so they would be in the same age range as the Fabs). I do know they were fans of the Ed Sullivan Show. But then again, who in the US was not at that time?

Please do ask them. It would be fab for you to know...and fun for us too.

My father was 9 years old and my mother had just turn 1 years old. With that said, I was not alive clearly. My father remembers them getting off the plane and playing on the Ed Sullivan. I asked my father a few weeks ago what did my grandmother think of them, with her being old fashion. He said, "She really didn't think much about them." Knowing my grandmother, who is now 85 years old, I can imagine she had a problem with their hair like most parents then did and probably thought they were a fad. Matter of fact, she never let him grow his hair long.

While my dad remains a Beatles fan to this day, he much prefers their earlier stuff to the later stuff. However, if not for both of my parents introducing me to The Beatles at a young age, then I might not be here (this forum). a-hard-days-night-george-10
