^ cool didn’t know you were from Canada, Vonbontee. :D

And I didn’t know you were from the Gulf coast! Love New Orleans – visited there in 1990 and purchased many fine rock & jazz CDs, and enjoyed eating gumbo & gator-on-a-stick, not to mention listening to the many street musicians while walking around with beer in hand.

Ah yes, the famous Edgewater. We Led Zeppelin/Frank Zappa fanatics are surely familiar with it!

I thought about bringing up that unsavory story, but I figured it wasn’t suitable fodder for the Beatles Bible. A tale like, uh… that one belongs in a post on The Led Zeppelin Lexicon, or whatever their fan website is called. ;-)

I like Led Zeppelin. Maybe I will post it there.

Probably don’t need to post it, really, if you don’t want to – I’m sure anybody can google the sordid (fish-)tale for themselves.

Hi YKMN, yes I also live in Cardiff (I’ve been here since 1995, originally from Bath). About to move to the tree-lined streets of Penylan (is in my ears and in my eyes). Where are you based?

I live in Roath. My parents love it here, but I think I’ll definitely move in the future.

I live in Seattle, Washington. Whenever I walk past the Edgewater Hotel, I always tell whomever I’m with (or think to myself): “That’s where the Beatles fished from their window.” Here’s the story for anyone who cares to read it:

http://www.seattlepi.com/local…..305857.php

The Edgewater Hotel is built on a pier over Elliott Bay, which is very deep and is home to the world’s largest octopus species. I wonder if, while the Beatles were fishing out of their hotel window, Ringo maybe hooked an octopus, inspiring his future song. Probably not. :)

I was in Seattle in 2004. I looked at that hotel and took a picture of it. I did read about how people would fish from the windows. But, I didn’t know the Beatles yet. Oh, well, at least I have the memory of seeing the hotel and the photo I can look at. Thanks for putting all that together for me, Bungalow Bob. apple01heartapple01

You are quite welcome, Ahhh Girl. I hope you enjoyed your Seattle visit. [snip]

We did have a wonderful time in Seattle.

Here’s what I have written about Edgewater Hotel in my scrapbook: “For a while, people could fish from their windows, but there were a lot of problems. People put fish in the mattresses and bathtubs, fish would slap against the windows of lower floors when people on upper floors were reeling fish in.”

I PM’d you the rest of the story.

Sure I’ve answered before, but why not again? I’m from Brampton, Ontario, Canada, very very close to the big city with the world-famous crack-smoking mayor.

One of Amazon.ca’s fulfillment centers is in Mississauga, Ontario, which is very close to you. Could you pop over there and rummage around in their warehouse and find trcanberra that Dylan box set so they will ship it out to him?

Ooh – yes please!!!  3 times they have told me they had it – and 3 times it has vanished.  I’m sure someone has it stuck in a corner to take home for themselves.

I love New Orleans as well.

Let’s see…I bought Captain Beefheart’s “Lick My Decals Off Baby” CD, then newly rereleased only to go out of print almost immediately afterwards; and I bought some Charles Mingus and Thelonious Monk and John Coltrane CDs, and that’s all I can remember for sure (plus the only ones I’m positive I still own.) Just can’t stop buying records and CDs, even while on vacation! (the prices were too good to overlook, also.)

trcanberra, I’m off to Mississauga in the 20-degrees-below-zero weather (by several buses, since I don’t drive) right now with a blowtorch in my hand to break into their huge warehouse and singlehandedly find your package for you!

No, no… Here! Where I am sitting on my sofa talking to all you good people with my fingers, trying to avoid electric shocks from my jerry-rigged power adapter! I got a doozy earlier when I had to move the wire to get it back into a connected position! I risk life and limb to be Here! I may well end up becoming the ghost who haunts the forum if my new power adapter doesn’t get here soon!!!!
