I get two Tshirts… Not bad for an agnostic, right?

I'd like to say "thank you" on behalf of the group and ourselves and I hope we passed the audition.

I know I'm a wee bit late, but I've been busy over the holidays.

My gifts:

-100 Greatest Rock Songs of all Time songbook for guitar

-Rock Connections (who inspired who, which musicians played together-of course the Beatles are in a lot of it)

-Buddy Holly Glasses (I'm going to get perscription ones soon!)

-A John-esque hat

-$200 Amazon giftcard, which I promptly used to purchase the stereo remasters

-iTunes giftcards, which I shall put to good use buying solo albums

-A Revolver pin

*A very fab 4*

Because the wind is high, it blows my mind.

I got a 50th anniversary deck of Beatles cards from my uncle, and I already had three, so now I have four Beatles decks of cards. Then I got a Yellow Submarine  ornament and keychain from my cousin, who got all of my other girl cousins nail stuff (she knows me so well). My mom got me The Beatles vinyl box set, and she had me convinced she wasn’t going to spend all that, but apparently she did.

Didn’t get as much Beatles stuff as I have the last couple years, but that’s all right. I got a lot of clothes and money. I haven’t got my presents from my dad yet, but I’m pretty sure he got me some Beatles stuff.

Beatles-wise i got a weird quiz book that gives beatles questions alongside random ones that give a beatle fact and then a loosely attached question like the Beatles went to India in 1968 to learn about TM (too lazy to type all that out) under the Maharishi. What was the name of the Russian Prime Minister at the time?

2 t-shirts

Lennon Letters book (a special edition that comes with extra letters so im giving my copy away)

a key ring

coaster

mug

and very generously the beatles vinyl box set which is way way too much. Well i have to find it as they couldnt in the shops but someone has said they will get it for me asap. A website has it on offer (31% off) so will get it from there probably. (On a side note when looking online i found a copy going for $100 new – a crap fake no doubt).

Also a few other odds and ends but non beatles.

I got “It Was 50 Years Ago Today”. My entire Christmas was on my class ring, which was supposed to be here last week; two weeks until I should expect any word on it a-hard-days-night-ringo-14

I got two photo books: A Day In The Life of the Beatles, since that’s my favorite Beatle look, and Unseen Archives.

As an aside, I spoke to one of my cousins today, and she asked me if I’d ever gotten from my mother her Beatle scrapbook she’d kept as a teen when I was going through my first Beatle phase as a kid. I was about 8, this was in the 70s. At the time, I was being forced to listen to nothing but classical music, and I’d stumbled on The Beatles via the cartoon. My mother didn’t approve of the Beatles thing, so it turns out she never passed the scrapbook on to me.

Kinda sucks, it was from the 60s and that would have been nice to have. But I have to laugh; I always wondered if I’d exaggerated my mother’s disapproval in my memory, and this confirmed I hadn’t. And it was a sweet reminder from my cousin that I’ve been a lifelong fan.

Not diretly Beatles-related but I got my very own record player which is so cool ‘cos it´s like the ones that they had in the 60´s but it´s ultra-modern at the same time, there’s a USB port so that you can plug your iPod in and download the record you´re playing. Love it!

As an early joint birthday and Christmas present my parents got me some more advanced recording equipment, a better microphone and an electric piano, so the deal was that I wouldn’t get very much this year- which is fine by me, seeing as they’ve basically bought me a bedroom studio.

I got a new jumper and a mother-knitted scarf to ward off the oppressive winter months living in Leeds, a Beatles fridge magnet shaped like an old ticket from ’62 (“Hulmehall/Portsmouth, England, Live Performance With NEW DRUMMER!”), a pot for slow-cooking stews and casseroles, and some money.

Hope everybody had a lovely Christmas Day.

That’s awesome! I got the Lennon Letters (stayed up all night reading it- I laughed, I cried, and everything in between) and a Love Me Do 50th Birthday t-shirt

Un-Beatley- stuff like socks and make-up and chocolate, and loads of books a-hard-days-night-john-6

I wanted Beatles Rock Band. My sister told my parents I wanted Assassins Creed III because SHE wanted it. Joke’s on her, I’m farther along than she is. I can keep threatening her with spoilers a-hard-days-night-john-1

I got a bunch of Beatles/George Harrison stuff:

  • Beatles Rock Band
  • Beatles Scrabble
  • The Beatles Anthology
  • I Me Mine (the book)
  • Living in the Material World (the DVD)
  • Beatles Trivial Pursuit
  • Two Beatles mugs; one that says “All You Need Is Love ” and one that has the Revolver cover art on it

I’ve liked the Beatles for about 5 years, but this is the first year that people have started to notice, so I got showered with Beatles gifts. It probably won’t be like this next year.

All I got were a t-shirt,some knickers, and the rest was cash, which I would use to buy some Beatles merchandise. But when I got to the market place the tees where in the right font but wrong colour! It was written in Scarlet Red and not Black, what would John say to that? And some of the pictures where historically inaccurate, God forbid if you saw that Let it Be picture.
