Attempting to read Jack Kerouac’s On the Road and Ken Kesey’s One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, attempting being the key word…

I just finished reading On The Road not too long ago.  It was good, but I must admit that I liked The Dharma Bums more.

I’m currently reading Here, There, and Everywhere, by Geoff Emerick.

Then I have “Lord Of The Rings” and “Collection Of Louis Carroll’s Life Works” next on my list.

At the moment I’m working on The Fire Eternal from The Last Dragon Chronicles series thingy by Chris D’Lacey. T’is the second time I’ve read through the series (there are seven-ish books in total). It’s my favourite book series, actually.

I’m also slowly-but-surely working through Tune In (it’s incredible the amount of new info I’ve learned from it already).

Recently, I’ve read The Outsider again since I was unable to finish it the first time (I was probably too immature to identify with teenage boys). It was good and I have high standards. However, the following are much better:

I’ve also read The Crucible, which is a play about the Salem Witch Trials. It was written during a Communism spy fiasco in the U.S. where people were being held suspects who shouldn’t have been. It’s a fascinating read on the human social order.

Lastly, I am almost done with Gone With the Wind. It. Is. Phenomenal. I originally picked it up for “pretend reading,” (we’ve all done it) but the librarian was rude so I had to actually read it.

Only music can save us.

That was Arthur Miller’s play right? I watched it and it was quite interesting. He was a blacklisted writer during that time.

Just finished a re read of The Electric Kool Aid Acid Test by Tom Wolfe.  It had been quite awhile.

I never knew actor Gene Hackman wrote novels.  I thought I’d try his novel in the Western genre, Payback at Morning Peak.  I’m a fifth of the way through; it’s quite good — a standard revenge tale (a young lad sees his mother, father, and little sister murdered by brigands (and worse) and he vows to track them down).

His use of words is good too.  In one scene, the main character finds a wayward horse that has lost its docility, so he takes patient time to talk to the horse and he “gentled” her.  I never knew that “gentle” was also a verb meaning “to tame a wild animal”.

Yup, still reading this. Only because A) I’m a slow reader and B) I haven’t been able to read a lot recently

Once I started reading that book I never put it down, then I got a full day of in school suspension and I finished it in there.

I finished up the book on Theda Bara (it was a pretty fast read). Now I’ve started on Ginger Baker’s autobiography.

Yep. A lot of people were upset because he wrote the play based on innocent Americans accused of being Communists.

I say in speeches that a plausible mission of artists is to make people appreciate being alive at least a little bit. I am then asked if I know of any artists who pulled that off. I reply, 'The Beatles did'.

Finished Roald Dahl’s short stories so started to read ‘A Song From Dead Lips’ by William Shaw but find the way its written to be highly annoying with all the very short sentences so doubt i’ll get anywhere with it.

As I was bag-less today I took Michael Brauns ‘Love Me Do !: Beatles Progress’ with me (small thin paperback compared to large thick hardback) and that is far better so will probably keep going with that. Haven’t read it in so so so many years.
