You includs all of you including your body and mind cause sometimes your body can mess with your mind and vice versa.

Both are needed for peace which depending on who the person is and what happens to them can affect how long it takes and if they can make it there.

Scars fade not vanish and if the body and mind work together, the scars might be able to become small like a freckle

I have learned today that life is what you make it,  it is a positive attitude that gives you that lift and drive.  You let things get you down and your aura will show that.

As someone who has struggled with mental health issues much of my life because of childhood sexual, physical and mental abuse, I believe that is rather simplistic. Sometimes the cards you are dealt make life very difficult. Scars run deep.

I have gone through a lot too but I realised I was the reason I was not moving forward.

I would say that many things can be overcome in the right environment with the right support, however, without that environment and support, and with deep and lasting damage done, the idea of a “positive attitude” is often impossible for those who have huge hurdles to overcome.

When deep damage is done to an individual, it is often not as easy to overcome as saying, “have a positive attitude”.

When I was finally able to start admitting the things done to me by my father, I was in my late 20s. The result was my whole family disowned me, causing more damage. Scars on scars.

Mental health issues as a result of psychological damage done are not easily overcome. I think it is wrong to suggest to those of us who struggle that we simply have the wrong attitude to overcome the “slings and arrows of outrageous fortune”.

Too true.

I am all about having a positive attitude and fully believe in the difference it makes.

For some, however, a positive attitude is just a start. And when those 5 seconds are over…

It is a difficult thing for me to have a “positive attitude”.

It is something that is not often seen here, because many of the relationships here are, as @Starr Shine? says, based on not really knowing who each other really are.

I try to be a very honest person about myself however. If anyone searches out my “Introduce Yourself” post when I joined the forum, they will see I blithely admitted to having not long being discharged from a mental health ward after the suicide of my closest friend caused a major breakdown.

I have said more tonight about my past than I have ever said here before, and that is because I trust those who really matter to me here not to view me differently, that I am still the same old Nasty despite the revelations.

I am very much an optimistic, trusting and positive person. At least, I try to be.

However, in real life, that has too often bitten me on the backside. I have admitted my past to people I trusted and loved in the past, and had them reel back in horror. Especially when you admit to sexual abuse people start fearing. The sins of the father… the repeating cycle…

This is why I say it’s not as simple as having a “positive attitude”.

If your “positive attitude” has you punched in the gut and face time and time again, it gets harder and harder to find.

This is why I say the environment and support of that “positive attitude” is so important.

It’s my birthday in a few days. I will receive one birthday card, it will be from somebody here who has helped me gain confidence about life more than they know.

They have helped me start believing I am worthwhile more than they realise. And that is what really matters, not a positive attitude, but people who believe in you and support you to make that positive attitude mean something.

To that person, I thank you. To all that have supported through my recent physical health problems, I thank you. You really do not know how much that has meant.

Earlier this morning I watched Olivia’s speech accepting George’s induction into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. She cited one of George’s favorite quotes. I promptly added that quote to my signature as it so profoundly resounded.

“Blessed is he whose fame does not outshine his truth.”

My next click of the mouse led me to @Ron Nasty ‘s post. If that is not a Beatles Bibley moment…

I’ve been getting off my bicycle the wrong way my entire life. I used to stretch my right leg straight behind me and whip it over the back of the bike….then I realised today I can just lift it slightly and cross it over to the left side to get off it.

Image Enlarger

On a positive note…it’s been good for my barre work a-hard-days-night-paul-7

I got a new bike earlier this week and I assembled it today, now that it’s a proper grown-up size, I realised how weird it must look to whip my leg over the back of my bike.

My entire cycling life has been a fail….

There is no wrong way as long as you get off without maiming yourself or the bike.

I play rockband by strumming up instead of down. We all got our things that SW away from the crowd.

It scares me when people bring both their legs to one side of the bike while it’s still moving. I can never do that. I have to stop completely before I start getting off.

So, let me get this straight, speeding up and hitting the front brake to throw myself over the handlebars and onto, usually, a grassy bank is the wrong way to dismount? I knew there had to be an easier way!

Well, if you’re wearing a helmet, I see nothing wrong with your method. Least you get to fly for a bit, that’s always nice.

I say in speeches that a plausible mission of artists is to make people appreciate being alive at least a little bit. I am then asked if I know of any artists who pulled that off. I reply, 'The Beatles did'.

I’ve never been to the Netherlands (some day…..) but Germany and Austria are similar as regards cycling at a very young age. I’ve always been jealous how nearly ever road had a cycle lane on it when I was there. Majority of roads in Ireland have no cycle lanes and you’re left being almost hit (or being hit) by drivers who don’t look in their mirrors when turning left a-hard-days-night-paul-11.

In saying that there are some geniuses here who cycle past red lights, on cycling crowded pedestrian footpaths and my favourite of all: cycling at night time, in dark clothes, with no reflective jacket or lights on your bike. Those people really do deserve a Darwin Award.

Not sure what led me to Gilligan’s Island facts, but here is what I learned today. While With The Beatles was being released in the UK…

From the website http://www.sitcomsonline.com/b…..p?t=337993

THE ASSASSINATION OF JFK DELAYED PRODUCTION ON THE SERIES.

The pilot for the series was filmed over several days in November of 1963 on the island of Kauai in Hawaii. The last day of shooting was scheduled for November 23, 1963 in Honolulu Harbor for the scenes showing the S.S. Minnow embarking on its fateful three-hour tour. Late in the morning on November 22, a crew member ran to the set and announced that he’d just heard on the radio that President John F. Kennedy had been shot. As Lyndon Johnson was sworn in as President, it was announced that all military installations (including Honolulu Harbor) would be closed for the next two days as a period of mourning. Filming was delayed by several days as a result, and in the opening credits—as the Minnow cruises the harbor—the American flag can be seen flying at half-mast in the background.

Here is a pic of the flags flying at half mast in the background during those opening credits.

Image Enlarger

The opening credits referred to above were only for the pilot episode. In that episode, the two characters that would become Ginger and Mary Ann were secretaries named Ginger and Bunny. The Professor was originally a high school science teacher. The opening theme was changed drastically (thank goodness), but here is the one for the pilot episode. The background flags appear at around :32.

Don’t shoot the messenger…

To the fountain of perpetual mirth, let it roll for all its worth. And all the children boogie.
