In a power cut i’d leave a candle lit as otherwise i’d have to walk with a lit candle and risk falling over and burning the house down whilst laying unconscious on the floor. The EU haven’t thought that threw very well.

On the same day ‘With The Beatles ‘ was released (22nd November 1963) JFK was shot (well known) but also CS Lewis and Aldous Huxley both died.

Someone should go thru all the release dates of Beatles albums and see what else happened on those dates.

Why can’t you leave a burning candle unattended? If it’s already away from things that can set fire I don’t see what the issue would be.

Because a child or pet might wander over? 🙂

Candles should be kept up high out of the way of children and pets so they cant get it even if you are in the room.

The things you learn. All from wiki

When the Beatles became wildly popular, Vee-Jay was swamped with orders, and they shipped more than two million Beatles records in a single month.

The [Four] Seasons were the only act to have had a Hot 100 #1 hit before, during, and after the years that the Beatles had their Hot 100 #1 hits.

Was also surprised to discover that it was the Four Seasons who had a hit ‘”December, 1963 (Oh, What a Night)’ in December 1975 considering they were about in 1963 and Vee-Jay released the cash-in ‘The Beatles vs The Four Seasons’ LP.

beatles_vs_the_four_seasons.pngImage Enlarger

Surprised me as much as when I twigged that The Tremeloes who sang ‘Silence Is Golden’ which reached #1 in May 1967 where the same Tremeloes who Decca chose over the Beatles (albeit Brian Poole had left the group in 1966). And to tie it all together the Four Seasons first released ‘Silence Is Golden’ as a b-side back in 1964.

Yeah but you should put candles in sensible places, on top of a fridge is not one.

I learned today that the only two Led Zeppelin songs that the great Jimmy Page did not take part in writing are both on In Through The Out Door.  They are called ‘South Bound Suarez’ and ‘All My Love’.  I also learned that Robert Plant was reluctant to perform the latter song live, because he thought the audience would do the “wave” thing during the chorus, which would be very unzeppelin-like.

I recently learned that the reason Page was less involved was his heroin addiction.

@Expert Textpert

I also learned that.  In fact, many musicians started putting less effort towards their music because of their heroin addiction, like Eric Clapton or John Lennon .  I just don’t know why you would want a drug that cripples you so badly that you can’t even focus on your music.a-hard-days-night-paul-10

It gives you the best high you’ve experienced but the first time is always the best. When you get addicted, you keep on trying to duplicate that first high, so you take it over and over again, increasing the amount to reach that unreachable euphoric-feeling and then you eventually get yourself off it or it kills you.

That’s what I’ve gathered from what I’ve read on it.

Yes, and it also changes your brain, sometimes permanently, to make you want to do heroin more than anything else.

My ex-girlfriend’s brother died of heroin.

From a Wall Street Journal article on ‘Rubber Soul ‘.

But when the U.S. version was released, the Beatles voiced displeasure to EMI, which demanded that Dexter no longer work on Beatles releases. In early 1966, Dexter was replaced by Bill Miller, who programmed the next two U.S. releases—“Yesterday and Today” and “Revolver .”

She was born in 1919 according the sources I just checked. If she had been born in 1948, that means he parents would have married her off before she was even conceived.
