Ok, I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one who has been caught fantasizing of what could have been. I’m a dreamer.

But, there are plenty of ‘What If’ kind of things that I love to indulge in. A favorite of mine and my dear friend, was when we were having a Back to the Future marathon one time at her house maybe a couple months ago, and she blurted out, “What if The Beatles jokingly or non-jokingly did a cover of ‘Earth Angel‘?” And then before we knew it we began hoping that maybe they did one time, and hoped that one day a miracle recording surfaced. I could just hear it in my head right now.

Another one, i think i thought of this one time while rewatching the big livestream of The Vlogbrothers in Carnegie Hall and The Mountain Goats singing John (Green)’s favorite song, ‘This Year‘, and I thought to myself, “You know what? I could totally imagine John Lennon singing that.” Although, may or may not be very late Beatles era John, or Comeback era John, although i’m pretty sure i’ve thought of both of those.

And then one time in 2009 I commented on some music video of that song with Hatsune Miku, ‘Love Is War‘, like, “I totally want Yoko Ono to sing this!!!!!! XDDDDDDD” which is extremely embarrassing, to say the least.

Also I imagined them singing the entirety of the Walk The Moon debut album.

Anyone else want to share their What Ifs?

Hello. It is I. ‘Miss Best Friend’. a-hard-days-night-ringo-8This guy above me told me to sign up so his thread wouldn’t be forgotten.

My ‘What If’ (that I told Brett about at least a thousand times) is them doing a joke recording, singing the wordless theme song of Doctor Who.

I’m sorry. Mine aren’t that creative. a-hard-days-night-ringo-2

Oh, and I thought of John singing Queen’s ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’.

I think everyone’s thought of that at least once, actually…

Also, to share the embarrassing with Brett, one time I thought of Paul doing one of those english translated covers of Just Be Friends. Whoops.

It would have been neat for the Beatles to have done America the Beautiful — where each of the four takes turns singing solo, then they come together for three-part or four-part harmonies at certain points.

And in my imagination, they would have sung it straight and sincerely — no caustically sardonic Lennonisms.

Lenny Kravitz’s “Believe.” It’s the best single the Beatles never made, and I can imagine John singing it.

Does anyone know any good impersonators? It’d be great if we had the full experience.

Would love to hear that!

Would also love to hear them do “I Got You Babe”, with John singing Sonny’s parts and Paul doing Cher’s! That would be good for a giggle.

That reminds of “Good Times” when Janet Jackson’s character Penny and Michael did their rendition. :-D

I know this is off-topic, but you reminded me of this brilliant and funny clip of Cathy McGowan and Brian Jones miming to I Got You Babe on Ready Steady Go aided and abetted by the rest of the Rolling Stones and Andrew Loog Oldham.

I’m not entirely sure I get this thread; I think I do, so here’s my entry: The Beatles singing “YMCA,” using their “Carry That Weight ” gang-style vocals on the chorus. Then each one of the Beatles would take a line or two in the verses, like “You can get yourself clean, you can have a good meal, you can do whatever you feel”… They would be hamming it up terribly, gesturing wildly as they played to the cheap seats. Then for the big chorus, they would pose using semaphore signals to spell out YMCA, just like they did in “HELP,” wearing those distinctive overcoats and hats. And, of course, they would spell YMCA wrong, just like they did HELP.

Is that appropriately silly?

Now that stuck in my head, too! :D

I can vividly imagine the indvidual Beatle voices on the goofy YMCA verses; Can’t you hear John shouting “Young man, are you listening to me?” And Ringo, wailing “You can hang out with all the boys.”

The early Beatles doing a rendition of Stairway to Heaven would be interesting.
