I felt the film itself wasn’t great but some of the musical numbers were.

That ‘Feed the birds’ bit always gets to me.

Parts of it are good; others make me want an evil witch to come and boil the kids, Mary, Bert and everyone else.

The new James Bond film song is out for ‘Spectre’. Having heard it once I find it to be awful; can hardly make out a word Sam Smith is singing, he sounds bored and moaning, and its so dull. Here’s hoping the film itself is a lot better.

‘Not so fast Mr Mustard……’

That’s not the song……Doubt it’s Sam Smith. Much too good to be him!

You’ve been duped.

As for the real thing……….If you’ve heard Michael Jackson’s  Earth Song……..You’ll know the new Bond song.

You’ll have to imagine a squeaky voice over this…….The actual theme.

The new clip for the film looks good though.

My son is off to see The Martian today; seems good from what little I have heard about it.

What did your son say about the film, trc? I enjoyed Matt Damon’s work in the Bourne films. The trailers for The Martian looked good.

To the fountain of perpetual mirth, let it roll for all its worth. And all the children boogie.

Both he and his mother said it was great and fully deserving the 94% (!!) rating it currently has on Rotten Tomatoes. They saw the 3D version and said it was well-suited to the film rather than being the afterthought it sometimes can be.

[EDIT] Oh, and yes, I thought he was great in the Bourne films – the first three are among my favourite action movies (and the song over the end credits is great as well).

^ You must have been thinking of something really truly awful.

I made it to around a minute and a half – I have better things to do with my life (like watching a moth circle the kitchen light) than waste time on more of that awful song (in my opinion yadda yadda).

Last night I was flicking through options on my android box and I spotted a film called the ‘Wrecking Crew’….Although I thought it was probably an American comedy about a Football or Hockey team the name seemed familiar……. Then of course! The famous group of session musicians that did all the Beach Boy and wall of sound stuff with that great girl bass-player.

Put it on and was wowed by how much they did…….Sinatra to the Monkees.

They came over as a little bit conceited and dismissive of the abilities of the artists they made sound so good…….Natural I suppose but they couldn’t praise Brian Wilson enough…..He comes out as a true genius.

When you listen to all the hits they made…….and the artists in their debt that they were hidden behind it made me appreciate just how good our boys were too…Doing mostly all of it themselves.

An instructive film and entertaining.

Right off for my swim.

Currently watching the original ‘Nightmare On Elm Street’; it really is quite horrid and creepy.

Not sure why Nancy (not also known as Lil or Magill) wanders into the dank dark basement just after some creepy girl has wiggled a gloved hand with knives for fingers at her.

Because that’s what always happens in horror films. They don’t fecking turn on the lights, they just go into a dark room and go ”Hello, who is there?”
What do they expect? Someone going ”Oh it’s only me, a psychopatic serial killer named Bertie, I’m here!”?blue-meanie

Love the idea of a serial killer being called Bertie.

I’ve done the same, bought my tickets a week ago…….a sofa seat for the first screening here at 12.30 pm……That would be 5.30 am your time in the Glen……..MMM

Make what you will of this……there are seven now, unconnected Thai persons who’ve unsolicited, and Out Of The Blue remarked on how much I look like Daniel Craig…….I laughed delightedly the first few times  but naturally scoffed at the compliment ……….Now after the the 7th I’m looking in mirrors holding my stomach in and wondering….. in a hopeful and really quite pathetic way……’Do I?’

But then reality hit me like a steel rimmed bowler-hat…… I recalled the time I showed one girl-friend the clip of Beatle Paul singing Yesterday on, I think, the Ed Sullivan show…..In black a white……He shone with youth and health……He looked great…….I thought she’d be impressed…..But she asked …. ‘It Mr Bean?’

Ahhh well!

I was given these two notebooks when I purchased the tickets. Nice touch.

Cheap here too…..I’ve heard they’ve been putting up prices in the UK.

Been waiting 3 years…Hope its as good as they say.

Hope you enjoy it MMM.

<snip>

I don’t think it would have been the Ed Sullivan show. As I recall, they were on Ed Sullivan before Paul would have done Yesterday (someone correct me if I’m wrong). It was probably from the television programme Blackpool Night Out

Sorry if I seem nitpicky, I’m just showing off my encyclopedic Beatles knowledge a-hard-days-night-george-10
