ahdn_paul_06 An impressive collection, that. I smiled when I saw your copy of Taxi Driver. It was during the filming of that movie that Scorsese played hookie for a few weeks to set up and direct my favorite rockumentary The Last Waltz.

The last movie I watched was Kingsman. It was alright.

I would like to have one of those umbrella’s they own in the movie though. Could come in handy one day.

I just did a massive upgrade of my movie collection.
I bought the DVD box set of Help ! with the script and the photo book.
And the Help ! bluray.
And the box set of MMT with the records and the dvd/bluray combo.
And the Yellow Submarine bluray.
And the Living in the Material World bluray.

I’ve been watching a movie per day for a long time now –I have many things on my mind and need some kind of distraction. Many horror & SCI-FI movies (the kind of films my fiancée doesn’t like). Very few dramas (that’s what she likes) –with my life I have enough sadness and despair.

Forsan et haec olim meminisse juvabit” (“Perhaps one day it will be a pleasure to look back on even this”; Virgil, The Aeneid, Book 1, line 203, where Aeneas says this to his men after the shipwreck that put them on the shores of Africa)

I understand a bit of the mood – I went through a Hong Kong action movie phase a while back. Kung Fu Hustle is a gem.

I love B movies…horror, or sci-fi… Ed wood’s movies are so enjoyable… and also from the 80’s…those from Frank Henenlotter (among others) are quite funny to watch… Also i love stop motion stuff… like Jan Svankmajer’s Alice

Watched three movies:

-Blended: Just yer regular romantic comedy really. Nothing great, just a nice way to pass the time.

– The Hours: A film about Virgina Woolf with different storylines. I lost the plot pretty fast. Nicole Kidman played great in this though.

-Montage of Heck: The documentary about Kurt Cobain. It was impressive, and tragic. I think he was a bit mad though. I don’t see him as a genius, but more as a nutcase. I’m also glad that Courtney and he only had one child. They were using drugs during her pregnancy! Sweet Jesus. And that appartment was no place to grow up in for a child.

Over the weekend, we watched a household favorite, Best In Show. Christopher Guest, IMHO, is the master of subtle humor.

2 things:

1) What did everyone think of Jurassic World? I saw it a couple weeks ago, and I thought it was really good. Now, I haven`t seen Jurassic Park, so here`s my question – do I need to see the original?

2) If you love comedy, listen to this clip from 24:30 to 26:20. It is all about Christopher Nolan movies, and it is hilarious. (I mean, listen to the rest because Zach Lowe is amazing, but please listen to that segment. It is the greatest.)

I haven’t seen the new one yet, but plan to soon – no spoilers please, everyone! If you liked it, Sun king, you probably don’t need to see the first one. Zag & I enjoyed the first two and were a bit disappointed with the third. Can’t wait to se this latest one.

I’ve now updated my movie collection to contain the rest of the Scorsese/De-Niro catalog (King of Comedy, Mean Streets and New York, New York) and now moved on into a little bit of Coen brothers (Fargo) a dose of David Fincher (Se7en and Fight Club) a seasoning of Quentin Tarantino (Resevoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown) and a sprinkle of Beatles/Richard Lester on top! (A Hard Day’s Night )

Oh, I almost forgot to add Sidney Lumit 🙂 (Network)

‘Rock Around The Clock’ is on BBC 4.

The dialogue is dire. Embarrassingly written. Can see what Lewinsohn meant in ‘Tune In’.

I thought the first ‘Jurassic Park’ was good, the second average and the third a long bore. I’ll catch the new one in 17 years when it gets an airing on a free-to-view tv channel for the first time.

Sounds like a good plan.

Is it too early to be showing up on the in-flight entertainment during my flights tomorrow and the following Sunday?

I finally saw Love & Mercy.  Since it’s been out about a month, there were only six people in the theater (including us!).  It was good, but it probably could have been shorter.

I'm Necko.  I'm like Ringo except I wear necklaces.

I'm also ewe2 on weekends.

Most likely to post things that make you go hmm... 2015, 2016, 2017.

To answer my own question; seems it was too early – I did catch up with the second Marvel Avengers movie though which was nice – I didn’t manage to catch it at the cinema.
