Wizard of Oz?? Well that's easy. Ringo would be the lion, Päul the Tin Man, George the Scarecrow and John the Wizard. Martha would be Toto and I'd be Dorothy!! a-hard-days-night-john-1

Edit : Imagine Casablanca…. Ringo would be the perfect Rick with his voice saying “From all the gin joints in the world”, John as Ilsa (in very Monty Python style), Paul would be Victor and George in a double role as Sam and Captain Renault.

John as Ilsa : “Play it again Sam, for all time's sake”

George as Sam : “Again? Can we play one of my songs?”

John : “Play it *again* Sam”

And Paul directing the Marseillaise… man I can totally see it. And Paul and John can play a marriage couple with issues.

awwww, I love the idea of Ringo as the lion. 🙂

Your Casablanca scene made me burst out laughing. Luckily, I'm home, and not at work, where I never post on this. a-hard-days-night-george-10

Wasn't there another book based on Forrest Gump's relationship with his son? That could be it, but I kinda think the time has paased for a new movie.

That would really be a shame if they made a Forrest Gump 2, or maybe it could be good, who knows? Instead of running across the country, Forrest Jr decides to skateboard across the country where he gets shot in the butt-ocks.

And it's totally obvious who would be Bubba. paul-mccartney

I'd pay a good chunk of money to see Paul rattle off all the ways shrimp could be cooked. 🙂 THAT'S acting! 🙂

Double post, but I figured out the Forrest Gump plot.

Our dear Ritchie was a very sick and uneducated boy, much like Mr. Gump. Both developed talent, Ringo with his drums and Forrest could “run like the wind blows.”

A strange spirit enters both lives, Jenny for Forrest and John for Ringo, both are very experimental and get caught up within the drug culture. Oddly enough, both died just as they appeared to be getting their lives back on track.

So Ringo gets caught up in this whirlwind that just kind of happens to him, just like Forrest who somehow goes to college, then is whisked off to VietnAm. Ringo meets another great friend, Paul, and Forrest meets Bubba. We know how close the rhythm section needs to be for a band to be great, and Paul certainly helped Ringo a lot with his drumming. Bubba also teaches Forrest about “shrimp boatin”. Bubba actually dies, and Paul unofficially died.

While in Vietnam, Forrest meets a friend who helps him a lot in a stern sort of way in Lieutenant Dan, and George was sort of the “stern” Beatle. Both Lieutenant Dan and George get caught up with their own spiritual quests, Dan's was at sea and both achieved inner peace and were loyal friends of the boys.

Edit : The problem with Casablanca-Beatles style is that now I have totally ruined the movie for myself.. darn it.

That's what I meant when I said now THAT'S acting! I don't think there's veggie shrimp (though they've made lots of other fake meats). Some vegetarians are OK with eating fish, and some are OK with eating cheese and/or eggs. It just varies.

Pride and Prejudice? As in Mr. Darcy Pride and Prejudice? Heh heh. I wonder who you have in mind…

NOOOOOOOO!!

Can they not instead make “Forrest Gump -1” and thereby wipe the original from my memory? Or maybe have him run across the country again and not stop when he reaches the ocean, yeah…

GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.

Love this! But I’d cast it differently:

John Lennon – Rick
Paul McCartney (in drag) – Ilsa
George Harrison – Laszlo
Ringo Starr – Renault
Billy Preston – Sam
Allen Klein – Signor Ferrari
Phil Spector – Ugarte
Sgt. Norman Pilcher – Major Strasse

Ringo: (blows whistle) Everybody is to leave at once. This recording studio is closed until further notice.
John: What? On what grounds?
Ringo: I’m shocked – shocked! – to find that there is marijuana being smoked here!
Mal Evans: Here, I rolled it just the way you like it, Captain.
Ringo: Oh, thank you very much! (accepts joint) Everyone out immediately. (inhales sharply)

Von that's AWESOME!!!!!! Ringo as Renault could work beautifully. I can imagine this at the end.. John and Ringo see George and Paul leaving.

John-Rick : I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship. Man, can you play drums in my Plastic Ono Band album?

And of course I'm thinking Mr. Darcy's Pride and Prejudice. I'm a massive Jane Austen fan but I don't want mashups involving zombies, sea monsters or vampires thank you very much. As Mr. Darcy.. I dunno.. Colin Firth is perfect but I wouldn't mind Paul. He could pull out indifference and charm at the same time. Besides he's already a Sir so….. a-hard-days-night-paul-11

And even the captcha agrees with me… 17!!! brian-epstein

I have to admit, I've never seen Casablanca. Yet. It's not like I try to stay away from that movie, or anything.

I actually was given a copy of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. It kind of turned my stomach, to be honest, but I wouldn't mind checking out the original.

You mean the original book? It's fantastic. Jane Austen is not only romantic stories, she describes with great irony the society of her time. I got into Jane Austen thanks to Ang Lee's Sense and Sensibility adaptation, I got some books in Spanish and I loved them. Actually when I went to Dallas a few years ago, my shopping list included all the Jane Austen books I could get ahold of.

But if you mean a movie version, I strongly recommend you the 1995 miniseries. Colin Firth is just dashing as Mr. Darcy and Jennifer Ehle is the perfect Lizzy. My other Jane Austen favorite adaptation is Persuasion with Amanda Root and the awesome Ciaran Hinds. The new adaptations are so-so.

I don't mind when classics are set in modern times : Clueless is a fantastic adaptation of Emma. 10 Things I hate about you is onf of the funniest Taming of the Shrew I've seen. But when it comes to books, I don't like messing up with the original story. I mean, if you want to write a zombie story in the Regency period, why don't you write your original story?

Sorry. This just makes me… I dunno. Like this. blue-meanie

I'm probably showing my…extensive musical knowledge here, but I think it was back in the early 90s or so, there was this Canadian rapper named Snow who had this song called Informer that was all over MTV. He was pretty cheesy, but I thought of him when you capitalized the S in snow.

I like snow, but not so much. I hate those deceptive slush puddles that look shallower than they really are. I don't miss the insides of my nose freezing (which means it's cold enough for snow). I guess I miss it just because it changes the scenery in a really substantial way that doesn't happen where I'm living now.
