Very surprised to read that REM have spilt. Not a massive fan of theirs but they have made some really good music, were original, and open to new ideas and sounds, not sitting back and rehacking the same stuff over and over.

"Well, probably we'll sell less records, less people'll go to see the film, we'll write less songs, and we'll all die of failure" (John Lennon 8/64)

Huh, thought they'd split years ago, not that I was paying attention. I always thought they were massively overrated and enjoyed virtually nothing I'd heard from them after they left IRS for Warner Bros. But my condolences to their fans anyways.

I like black music, disco music. I like the disco music that's out now - John Lennon, 1975

I was only a fan of some of their songs (Superman, The One I Love, It's the End of the World As We Know It, Losing My Religion, etc.). It's still sad to hear good bands end (would have cried massive tears if I was around when the Beatles broke up). They were very influential to alt scene in the 90s. They had a good run.

Reunion tour in 10 years perhaps?

Well we all shine on like the moon, the stars, and the sun.

I expected them to keep making music forever.

Green is a fantastic album, and Collapse Into Now is one of the better albums of the year so far, although that's possibly because it sounds like R.E.M. should do.

And I neeeeeeeeed her all the time

It's the end of R.E.M. as we know it…

I never really paid much attention to them, but I guess they're pretty good.

Step on the gas and wipe that tear away.
