I think it's the starting point for a lot of Pixies fans, though I think Trompe Le Monde has probably dated better. The only one I find disappointing is Bossanova.

Frank Black's solo stuff is quite patchy, and I haven't heard it all, but the first album (Frank Black) is pretty much what a sixth Pixies album (if you include Come On Pilgrim) might have sounded like if they'd kept going. And Headache, from the follow-up, is a great song.

(Nor Frank Black's solo career)

Probably my loss, but that was my pattern in my late teens/early 20s: get disappointed by a band's new album & give up on them forever! LOL

The only worth about them is the front seat and the sound check. The other stuff, free drinks and the merchandise is not that good trust me. My niece went to Bon Jovi's concert in Foro Sol few weeks ago and she got a VIP. She says it was ok because she was just a few steps of Bon Jovi, but that the stuff (a bag and other things) wasn't that good.

They've been one of my all-time favourite bands since I was 14 or 15 (1990/1) and someone in my class lent me a cassette of Doolittle.

I'd like to see them again if they tour here, as the time I saw them was at a music festival and not a headline show.

They were terrific. One of the best shows I ever saw, I feel like I'm still not touching the earth. They also have some beatles feeling I can't quite describe... those melodies, that mix of hard and soft edges... Do you know what I mean? I think "Here comes your man" and "Wave of Mutilation" are very beatle-like.

 

Anyway, I love Pixies!
