The "Jennings Farm Blues" stuff is so much fun to hear.

I'd really be excited to see what type of material Pagey will add to the discs. A lot of the demos that I've heard are pretty rough, but that might just be a result of generations of bootlegs. I'd really be interested in studio outtakes, but I'll take anything.

Page says that Zeppelin deluxe reissues are coming starting in 2013 - with lots of extras!
Can't remember if they're supposed to be 2CD sets or that's just my feverish imagination. I'm definitely hoping for official releases of "Sugar Mama" and "Sunshine Woman" and "Jennings Farm Blues", all that stuff - anything that's releaseable, really.

This thread hasn't been touched for 2.5 years, so I thought it was time to get talking again in the Thread Zeppelin.

I've just spent a day de-Christmasing my place and listening to the 11-CD Studio Sessions bootleg series. I've always wondered why there was never an official collection of 'Anthology'-style outtakes, rehearsals and demos. I know that the band (Page, really) had a very strict quality-control standard, but there's so many cool things that really should see the light of day.

Yeah, a lot of bands really loved to sttrrretch things out in those days. (The drugs were a major factor!)

Much as I love Zep (a lot), I've gotta say that their live stuff (undoubtedly the true source of the "10-minute bore-a-thons that Joe complained about, since their entire studio output produced only 3 songs that crack the double-digit barrier) has very little appeal to me. A huge portion of their greatness was their spectacular recordings, the sheer sound, Jimmy Page's sculpted layers of guitars, Bonzo's exquisitely mic'd drumkit, etc. To do justice to those songs live was, I think, as impossible a task as it would've been for the Beatles to perform Revolver or SPLHCB live.

Well since this thread is about music we do and do not like, I have a confession to make...I think the Stones are beyond overrated. They have a smattering of good songs, but other than Keith Richards and Brian Jones no one was very talented in that band. I think they're alright, but when people say Stones vs. Beatles I think it's fairly laughable.
But anyway, I like Led Zeppelin but I listened to them too much as a teenager, if I ever had to hear the Lemon Song ever again I'd probably scream. I like Presence a lot still ...
