Nearly 40 years since the big guy died, and there's a brand-new 4-disc box of rarities (or "rarities") due to be released shortly! Dunno if it'll be worth buying, but I'll definitely be waiting for the highlights to surface online. (The Hendrix Family assuredly doesn't need any of my money.)

I got that big purple box set of his a few years ago and it really was worth buying. Plenty of great instrumentals to go along with the alternate takes and stuff like that. I'm not sure what else they could possibly put on this set though.

Hm, well, probably yet more redundant live versions of "Fire" and "Purple Haze" and "Red House", no doubt. But I'm anxious to hear his version of Dylan's "Tears of Rage", that sounds like a highlight. (And yeah, that big purple box was pretty great indeed!)

As a listener, his music is fucking amazing! His guitar-playing is so unbelievably perfect.

As a drummer, I have to thank Jimi for hiring Mitch Mitchell, my number one inspiration on drums (besides this big guy: a-hard-days-night-ringo-9 ).

And my favorites of his are "All Along the Watchtower" (of course), "If 6 Was 9", and "Fire". "Purple Haze" is another masterpiece!

No one, I think, is in my tree; I mean, it must be high or low.
