Nearly 40 years since the big guy died, and there's a brand-new 4-disc box of rarities (or “rarities”) due to be released shortly! Dunno if it'll be worth buying, but I'll definitely be waiting for the highlights to surface online. (The Hendrix Family assuredly doesn't need any of my money.)

Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.

I got that big purple box set of his a few years ago and it really was worth buying. Plenty of great instrumentals to go along with the alternate takes and stuff like that. I'm not sure what else they could possibly put on this set though.

Hm, well, probably yet more redundant live versions of “Fire” and “Purple Haze” and “Red House”, no doubt. But I'm anxious to hear his version of Dylan's “Tears of Rage”, that sounds like a highlight. (And yeah, that big purple box was pretty great indeed!)

GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.

Somehow I get the feeling it will be a bit heavier than the cover done by The Band.

To the fountain of perpetual mirth, let it roll for all its worth. And all the children boogie.

As a listener, his music is fucking amazing!  His guitar-playing is so unbelievably perfect.

As a drummer, I have to thank Jimi for hiring Mitch Mitchell, my number one inspiration on drums (besides this big guy:a-hard-days-night-ringo-9).

And my favorites of his are “All Along the Watchtower” (of course), “If 6 Was 9”, and “Fire”.  “Purple Haze” is another masterpiece!

No one, I think, is in my tree; I mean, it must be high or low.

Hendrix is amazing. I’ll echo those above in saying that that purple box is full of great stuff (found it at the library a short while ago.)

The only full album of his I’ve technically heard (besides listening through that four disc box) is Are You Experienced? and I love it so I guess that’d be considered my favorite.

(Off topic for a moment, I like that the forum no longer has half page arguments about haircuts where the instigator denies that a trim was ever proposed.)

If I spoke prose you'd all find out, I don't know what I talk about.

I only own Are You Experienced? which is pretty great. My favorite song by him, which is a Dylan cover, All Along The Watch. For the 4th of July I blasted his version of The Star Spangled Banner (US National Anthem). One of the best versions of the song!

I’m not a huge Hendrix fan, but I like his music.  Are You Experienced? is my favorite album of his, and, also, probably one of my favorite songs of his.

I'm Necko.  I'm like Ringo except I wear necklaces.

I'm also ewe2 on weekends.

Most likely to post things that make you go hmm... 2015, 2016, 2017.

I’ve used that stamp! ahdn_george_06

It’s really cool.

I also spent about an hour yesterday learning Foxy Lady by ear. I got down the main parts. Will work on the solo some other time.

Have you noticed the similarity of ‘Purple Haze’ to ‘Walking the Dog’ ?

I’m glad somebody remembered Foxy Lady, @Mr. Kite!

i Love Jimi Hendrix’s Stuff. I Own “Are You Experienced” and “Electric Ladyland”. Both are great Albums. My Favorite Song by Him is either “Love or Confusion” or If 6 Was 9″

I Think that Rolling Stone should do a cover story of The Rolling Stones covering "Like a Rolling Stone" or if a Type of Beetle was named after The Beatles.

I like the way you capitalised Him. It makes Jimi seem even more godlike.

i do that a lot actually. I’m not sure why i do though. But he is a Guitar God . Up There with Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton (I See George-Pattie Fans, I Better Run!!!!), George Harrison , and The underrated Terry Kath of Chicago.

Funny thing is i am Listening To Jimi’s First Album

I Think that Rolling Stone should do a cover story of The Rolling Stones covering "Like a Rolling Stone" or if a Type of Beetle was named after The Beatles.
