My name is Madison (I plan to get it changed when I turn 18 because of the girl jokes), and I have loved the Beatles for as long as I can remember. Of all of them, Ringo is my favorite, which is weird, considering I play guitar. At least that means I'm not biased because of my instrument.
Anyways, I was born in '97, and I always loved music. I started playing trumpet in band when I was about 10, then moved to tuba when the other player was expelled for reasons not appropriate for posting. I still play tuba, but I played baritone for a year in marching band before going to sousaphone. Now I will be playing guitar in jazz band, that is, when I get finished transposing Twist & Shout and possibly I Wanna Hold Your Hand (need to ask the director if he plans on playing it). I plan to pick up bass guitar as well when I scrap some money together (can't get a job until April). I'm a bit a music prodigy, and the director says he will help me get into the conservatory here in town when I graduate. Here's a hint as to which one: It is the only professional music school to be honored by President Barack Obama. Yeah, that one.
You'll all probably be hearing me perform in a few years, god willing. Until then, I plan to record some of my songs (I've written several in the past week) and link them here for your hearing pleasure. Peace!
Then, when I do hear you perform, I can say, "Hey, I know him! I once replied to his post on the Beatles Bible Fab Forum!"

P.P.S. I think I know what conservatory you're talking about, but I don't want to post it in case you don't want others to know, considering you didn't post it openly. Or were you just trying to make us do a little work and figure it out ourselves?

I'm getting hooked on Pig Latin now. I took your line and was thinking how it sounded with the "from me" also done, and realized that Pig Latin "from" sounds sort of like "Humphrey", leading me to pronounce that in turn: "Umphrey-hay".
That morphed into
"Humphrey from Comfrey afraid of Friday"
Umphrey-hay om-fray omfrey-Cay fraid-ay of-ay iday-Fray.

1) "Afraid" would be "afraid-ay," not "fraid-ay." Was that just a typing mistake?
2) Just so you know, when a word starts with a blend of letters (e.g. brown), you move the blend to the end: own-bray. I see you already did that with "Friday" (iday-Fray). Just reiterating.

tkj's description of his discovery of the Beatles, basically by a teenager in the late 90s forward is interesting, because I've always wondered what "kids" these days think whenever they hear a Beatles song the first time. I'm sure I'm biased, but I just cannot conceive anyone not liking the Beatles. On the flip side of the coin, it would be fascinating to hear a "youngster" who dislikes the Beatles articulate exactly why he or she feels that way.
Well, I know a lot of other teens who dislike The Beatles. Most of these are ignorant girls from 13-17, who seriously thinks Justin Bieber has the best voice in the world. (I even had a debate with them once, they think they would still love him and think he's the best, even if he werent good looking.. Gee!)
The reason why a lot of teens dont like The Beatles is because they just want something new and fresh all the time. Its considered 'uncool' to like something older than 2 years old. We want new phones, computers, new artists to love, new movies and games. New everything. I think teenage girls dont use their ears when they choose whats a good artist or not, they just use their eyes. Justin Bieber has an ordinary voice, got people to write for him, and his songs are average at best. Still some of these girls claim: He is the best artist ever. Its crazy.
The youth of today are surrounded with so much bullshit that they cant see whats really pure and beautiful, such as The Beatles' music. It really pisses me off when I think about it. I also think a lot of the teens who like the Beatles is because they've grew up with The Beatles by their parents. For me however, this is not the case.

To them, Justin Bieber is the greatest artist to have ever lived and has the greatest voice ever. It's not crazy, he's very popular right now for a reason; many people love his music. You might think that his voice is only average, but that's only an opinion. People say the same thing about The Beatles, that none of them are "real" musicians, or any good at what they did. Justin Bieber does write most of his songs, so you're obviously making things up because you need more reasons to dislike him. Also, teenage girls do use their ears when they decide on whether or not they like an artist. If they only did use their eyes, then people like Lady Gaga, LMFAO, and Ke$ha wouldn't be half as popular as they are (or were). Just because you don't like what's on the radio doesn't mean nobody else should. What makes your opinions so much better than those of anybody else?

Why does that make you angry? Not everybody is going to like The Beatles. I seriously doubt any of the Beatles cared about not being loved by every person in the world, it would be stupid if they did. You can tell yourself the reason so many kids nowadays don't like The Beatles is they're just ignorant, or whatever else, but that's wrong. All those kids who claim Justin Bieber is the greatest artist to ever live, and has the best voice in the world say that because that's how they feel. You think The Beatles are, and so do I, but that doesn't mean anybody who thinks different is ignorant.

Justin Bieber co-writes his own songs. He's got thousands of other people to work with him, while The Beatles wrote all of their stuff alone. (except covers)

You cant say shit taste bad, because thats just your opinion. Thats exactly how I feel about what you just wrote, lol. But fair enough, you cant really prove someones taste is better than another. And yes, they use their ears, but that Justin Bieber wouldnt have been anywhere as successful as he is now without his looks is no debate. The same goes with The Beatles. Didnt Brian Epstein get obsessed with them because of their looks? especially John Lennon? Im not saying that looks is the ONLY thing that makes artists popular, but it is one reason for it.

Hello, everybody
My name is Mark, and I was born in the month before Sgt. Pepper. Been floating around the site for a few months (bit of a Luddite and only got an internet connection a few months ago) and took the plunge and joined a few days ago. Mainly because I had a question I wanted help with (it's in the Recording and Musicology part of the forum) but have since been roaming the forums and offering my opinions here and there.
What to say about myself?
I grew up in a dysfunctional family in Orpington, on the outskirts of London, (famous for a car advert and the opening lines of a poem by one of the Liverpool Poets, can't remember which right now – "The end of the world shall surely come / In Bromley South or Orpington…"), where the saviour was that there was always lots of music. When I was about 8 I was given Simon and Garfunkel's BOTW, Buddy Holly 20 Golden Greats and an Everly Brothers best of. The girl next door loved Elvis so heard lots of him.
End of 1980 I heard a song on the radio that reminded me of Buddy Holly, and on the 5th or 6th of December found myself in Woolworths buying my first single. "Do you have 'Starting Over'?"
We all know what happened next, and I was off school ill that dreadful day, and the radio was full of songs I had known for years but never quite connected to all being by the same people. I was a lost cause from that day on.
My mum got me R&RM (Vol. 1) for Xmas that year, I got Vol. 2 a few weeks later, and my dad (only good thing he did) got me The Beatles Box for my birthday (which would be my Desert Island album – forget counting the 3 Anthology's album as 1, The Beatles Box was an eight album best of).
Those albums started me off on my journey exploring all things music. I heard "Matchbox" and I wanted to hear where they got it from, and then I wanted to hear where they got if from, till I find myself listening to Blind Lemon Jefferson. I read Lennon saying he loves the B-52s and I want to hear them.
A web of great music I have discovered, forwards and backwards, but with The Beatles always The Beginning and The End.
Other things to say? I'm a sometime poet, used to write a lot, now less so, but quite good when I get it right. Recovering from a rather large brainmelt last year, which involved some time in hospital, following the suicide of a friend I'd known since 1985. Probably saying too much and making you think I'm a little mad. I probably am but not in a bad way.

Welcome to the site mj6758. Good to hear youre on the mend after a horrid time. I have the Beatles Box and its a fantastic, tho slightly strange considering what was left off, overview of the beatles music.

My name is Ben, I am officially a Beatlemaniac… I am from Queensland, Australia, and really enjoying reading the great collection of information that is your forum. I am an accomplished guitarist/vocalist, and have had a love affair with The Beatles since I can remember, my parents loved music I am all excited at the moment, as I have just secured tickets to BestFest next year at The Casbah! Long trip from Australia, lol, guess I'll have to ride my Kangaroo huh
Also have my tickets for Ringo here in Feb I absolutely love the Hamburg days, up until they broke big with Parlophone.. Definitely my fave era.. Loved it all after that too tho, just my personal fave.. Anyway, Hi to everyone "Awaiting on you all" for a reply

John Lennon did say that none of the other bands could touch the Beatles when they played straight rock at the dance halls and clubs. Sadly I only have one T-shirt relating the Beatles because t-shirts cost a lot here lol.
If I had to pick my favourite song or album, I would not be able to do so.
I currently have semi-Arthur hair and cleanly shaven face. Someday, when I grow more facial hair I'll have Paul McCartney's hairstyle (during the late 60's)
I have been met lots of people and sadly their passion is not with the Beatles. Especially with people with my age.

Hi I'm Phil. I was born in Hampshire in 1941 and grew up in London. Went through various youthful transformations….skiffle, Trad, Aldermaston March, art school, trip to India, drugs, Swinging Sixties, marriage, 'respectability', kids, grandkids…. I'm trying to put it all into a book …..it seems like an endless project.
Every now and then I publish something smaller. I just did a book about meeting John Lennon….but maybe this isn't the place to talk about it. I'll put it over on 'pimp my stuff'. Hope you will take a look. best Phil

Thanks minime. I thought about sharing some experiences here but I put it all in the book. Very cheap BTW. If I sell a couple hundred copies I may even make my costs back!
