OfflineHey, guys! I'm Courtney--and, although "Dipsy" is my avatar name, it's actually my real nickname. So call me whatever: technically, they're both my real names haha. I'm 17 years old at the moment, but my 18th birthday is coming up in less than two weeks. I'm from Clarksville, Tennessee, and I am (obviously) a HUGE fan of The Beatles: this website is seriously like the best thing since sliced bread!
I'll be going off to college in Nashville in a few weeks to major in Psychology and Sociology, so perhaps I didn't exactly discover this site at the most convenient of times haha. I can totally see myself being distracted during class by forum curiosities…sounds like I'll just need to exercise some self control, eh? I plan on working for the Peace Corps as soon as I'm finished with college; so when that time comes around, you guys may not hear from me for a couple of years. But…I will be back!
Everyone who knows me describes me as a "modern- day hippie", and they couldn't be more correct. I'm a pacifist, creative writer, photographer, and conceptual artist. I hope to one day also become a peace activist: well, I suppose I already am--in my own small way. People oftentimes tell me I was born in the wrong time period because of all of these reasons, not to mention the fact that my second love is Bob Dylan and indie music.
I think my love for John Lennon may be equivalent to Mith's love for George Harrison, so be prepared for some girlish admiration. ![]()
I'm in constant thought, so my answers in the forum may be extraordinarily detailed and, at times, unconventional. So be prepared!
I have been a fan of The Beatles since I was fourteen years old. The first CD I ever purchased was a scratched copy of Please Please Me from a Kentucky flea market for $2. And, much to my embarrassment, the only reason I purchased it was to play at a British-themed birthday party. I remember thinking that I needed British music, and The Beatles were British, right? I do, however, remember being fascinated by the CD cover for some reason: all the way home--about an hour drive--I was turning it over and over in my hands, fixated on the picture of these four suit-clad guys peering down from above. Why did the cover catch my interest so much? I'll never know. Anyways, I got home and immediately started listening to it…and I hated it! It was just so old and so outdated. But I wound up playing it at the party anyway because, like I said, I needed some British music. When it came time to open gifts, my friend Mary gave me what looked like a wrapped CD. I opened it to find that it was 1. Man, did that CD change my life! Please Please Me may not have left a very good impression on me, but 1 was a different story. And my love only grew from there, eventually leading me to fall in love with Please Please Me shortly afterward. Needless to say, I've never been the same since.
So after that mini-"how-Courtney-came-to-love-The-Beatles"-bio, there's only one thing left for me to say: I'm really excited to finally be a part of The Beatles Bible, and I can't wait to meet you all!
Hi all! Welcome to the forum. I hope you have a lovely time here. I'm Joe, the site owner.
Just a quick note about age. I certainly wouldn't to put anyone off taking part, but I should point out that sometimes we'll discuss issues regarding sex and drugs (among other things). It's possible that not all the topics will be suitable for all ages, but I prefer light-touch moderation rather than age-restriction. If you're OK with that then fine, but be aware this is an open forum where people are free to discuss what they want.
(This is really for the benefit of any parents who might be reading. The questionable stuff rarely comes up, but I thought it worth mentioning.)
OK, warning over. Hey, George, happy birthday for tomorrow!

Anyways, welcome to the forum, everybody who's joined since the last time I checked in at this thread!

OfflineHi all!
My real name is William. I'm 34 years of age and was born while Mull Of Kintyre was #1 – hardly a claim to fame and little to do with the Fab Four, but trust me, it's worth knowing! No imagination whatsoever has gone into my user name; Little Child is by no means my favourite FAB song, but if Beatles tracks were judged purely on comedic value, I reckon it would be a sure-fire winner. The avatar is garbage, but is quite significant in that it was the FABS' penultimate photo session – that was Wednesday 9th April 1969 for all you budding Lewisohn's out there!
I'm musically illiterate, so will probably be out of my depth in most threads, but I'll enjoy the ride (if I can get a ticket).

OfflineWelcome to the forum Little Mild. Nothing wrong with your avatar or user name in the slightest. I know absolutely nothing about chords or chord changes or anything like that in the slightest and having been butting in on everything going so jump right in and enjoy yourself - the waters lovely (i have the intro to I Lie Around in my head – need to play that now).

Joe, I wonder if "Introduce Yourself" should be its own category. It's not obvious that it would be in "Getting Better" and I wonder if people wouldn't even know of the thread's existence.
Good point, but the welcome emails people get with their auto-generated passwords also contain a link to this thread.

OfflineHello, hello! I am eighteen almost nineteen, and I'm a college student living on the West Coast of the United States! I have been lurking on Beatles Bible (that's right, I'm one of THOSE PEOPLE) for quite a while, but I was finally motivated to join as a member for two reasons:
1. I am waiting for Mark Lewisohn's Complete Chronicle, and it is still not here. Still. Not. Here. And I am on such a Beatles kick right now that I may explode if I don't talk about them with someone, you know what I mean? And I don't want to explode. Because, ew.
2. I chose Beatles Bible specifically because people on here seem to have very good taste in books. Good taste in books = They are good people. MY LOGIC IS FLAWLESS!
Anyway… other things about me. Well, I'm kind of a spazz on the internet, which is amusing because I am a fairly quiet person in real life. I am currently stuck between Psychology and Cultural Anthropology as a major. I like cats and I have a dog and a turtle. I'm not sure how that happened. I do a lot of creative writing, and am currently trying to teach myself the guitar. It's working. Sort of. I've also had some voice training. Several people have tried to teach me note-reading, but it never sticks in my head. The most I've ever been able to memorize is that when the little circle-shape things go up or down, that means the sound is supposed to do the same thing. I am mildly obsessed with manga and anime. Also action movies, 'cause hey, 'splosions. I go on walks, but only so I don't feel like a lazy sack of topatoes (a rare tomato-potato hybrid found in very few countries, including all the ones in my head.) I like to keep up with politics, Harry Potter holds a special place in my heart, and the last book I read was a fantasy-mystery-otherstuff novel called Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children.
I have no idea how on earth I'm supposed to choose a favorite Beatle. (I want to hug all of them. A hug. Just a hug? That would be nice. In fact, that would kind of MAKE MY LIFE.) But I can tell you all how I came to See the Light of the Beatles.
My parents had a CD of their music growing up, but partially because it was my parents music and partially because my taste in music pre-13-ish sucked the big wazoo, I wasn't really interested in them until I saw a documentary on them a few years ago, celebrating the bands' fiftieth anniversary I think. Something about them seemed very unique to me, so I looked up their music again… and oh my God. Revelations! Beams of light! Vague images of beings with strangely colored heads!
In the three or so years since then, I have become thoroughly and unhealthily obsessed. My family would consider getting me therapy if they didn't know I went insane years ago.
But hey, hooray for insanity, right?
