Hi everyone,

my name is Oli, I'm 35 years old, from Germany, and I'm new to this amazing site.

Like so many of you, I got introduced to the Beatles' songs at a young age, through my dad who was a huge fan.

I play and write music myself (I play guitar and sing in several bands) and I'm still amazed about their skill in songwriting. I often record Beatles songs at home just for fun, trying to get as close as possible to the original arrangements, then I give the recordings to my mom, girlfriend and assorted friends. It's some sort of ongoing educational project for myself.

A lot of people wonder how the Beatles fit into my pretty obscure musical taste and I usually reply that much of the stuff I like would not even exist without them paving the way for it.

Anyway, glad to be here :)

…And We're glad you came. Just a couple of warnings:
1. We can get off topic very fast, so going with it is the preferable option.
2. It's very common for jokes to have caused *zigs* aka spitting out their drink. Named after our noble moderator, it is tradition.
3. If you see *9* or *17*, all this means is the anti spam math equaled 9 or 17.
That's all I think……Oh yes, you can just call me Sun King.

I tried to think of something powerful and moving… and failed.  "You were given a choice between war and dishonor - you chose dishonor, and you shall have war" - Winston Churchill

thanks for the apples, Nigel and Mith. I'm already feeling very comfortable here.

Mith, concerning my taste of music, I like bands like Shellac, Faraquet or Shipping News just to name a few. They're considered "obscure" here in Germany, although they might be more popular in the States or in Mexico, I don't know that.

They certainly are obscure to my knowledge, and I even listen to the Alternative station quite a bit. Welcome again!!!!! (I can't give an apple as I'm on my IPod touch and they don't allow smileys.

It's possible. Here in Mexico we know more about European bands from all kinds of music than in other parts of the world. I think I have heard people who like Shellac.

I just realized that I never introduced myself. How rude of me!! Anyway, my name is Keri. I am 21 years old, and I live in Alabama. I am going to school to be a doctor (if I can do well on my MCAT this summer…in 2 months…oh, God, I should be studying!!!). I have been a Beatles fan since September 11, 2010, when I saw the VH1 Greatest Artists of All Time. They played the video clip from I Am The Walrus, and I loved it. I went online and (to my great shame) illegally downloaded what I thought was the song I heard, but it turned out to be Come Together. (Just to be clear, I later deleted all my illegal stuff and bought it legally.) I was clueless. However, I am one of those people who has to know everything about something I like, and I tend to get a little obsessive. It happened with The X-Files when I was 10, and then a little later, Harry Potter. It just happens. That's one reason I've never tried drugs or alcohol. Anywho, I first fell in love with John. I love his voice, his poetry, his humor, and his weird symbiotic relationship with Paul (it's the best bromance of all time, you know). I do not love his post-Beatles bitterness, and it made me take a step back from him, a little. Don't get me wrong, I still love him, but my fascination with him is a little worn. My love for Paul, however, has grown by leaps and bounds. At first, I thought anyone who liked Paul must be shallow because I read quotes from John in the 70s (in which he always contradicted himself. One minute its, "Paul is a big whiny baby who can't do anything," then it's wearing buttons that say, "I love Paul.") I realized I could like Paul's music without being shallow, and now I listen to it all the time. The only pop/rock albums I don't have of his in some format are Wings at the Speed of Sound, Pipes of Peace, and Press to Play. I have all of John's solo material, as well. Shamefully, I only have so many hours in the day to listen to music, and I have a somewhat limited budget, so I haven't been able to get into George and Ringo's solo stuff. Maybe one day.

So now you know me. Sorry I didn't do this sooner!a-hard-days-night-john-6

Welcome, antb0y! apple01

Welcome, kedame! apple01 We sound like we have a few things in common. I’m 24 and in Tennessee. And Paul is my favorite, too! a-hard-days-night-paul-9
