Wow, I live incredibly near to Reading, in Ascot!

You all will have read that Dave Dee is no longer with us. But Mickey and Titch and I would like to carry on the good work that's always gone down in number two.

Yeah, when I go on bike rides, I cycle past there all the time. I remember going with my dad one time when I was younger, and him saying, “That's where John Lennon used to live,” with me mesmerised that I live near where a Beatle used to live.

Is there much to see from outside? I know it got sold a couple of times and redeveloped – I presume there are pretty big gates/walls around it all now. If not do take some pics and share them with us, if you're able.

Hi JET!

What breed(s) are your horses? My wife has one that is part Pinto / part Arabian. He is awesome on trails and can go forever.

Yeah, it's pretty much gates and walls and bushes, pretty impossible to get a good look in. Though I may go down to take a few pictures anyway.

Hey Smokey! It looks like you've been keeping busy. What did you think about the philosophy book?

Hi skye, actually that is a quite intersting book, although sometimes a little too far out. But it gives some intersting perspectives. Interpretations of some enigmatic lyrics – not only by John… e.g. Fixing A Hole is Paul´s song. Of course it shouldnt be take too seriousely, but it is fun to read. Some chapters are better than others. My favourite interpretation is “I feel fine”. At first it seems like a love song like all the early ones, but it could also be interpreted as very subtle irony and first cracks in the naive world of the early lyrics. “she´s happy as can be you know she said so, baby says she´s mine you know she tells me all the time you know she said so; she´s so glad, she´s telling all the world, her baby buys her diamond rings…” that sounds like whistling in the dark… If my friend told me that I´d say, forget her, it wont be long until she splits up…

So in short, read it, think about it but don´t take it too seriousely. Some chapters I skipped.

That does sound interesting. I'd ask about Fixing A Hole , but it's probably worth it's own thread. a-hard-days-night-john-6

And finally I get a Beatles forum a-hard-days-night-george-8

This is superb and specially the emoticons.. they're just, what can you say, FAB! 🙂

I am Himank, an Indian addicted to the Beatles music for the last 4 years, since I first heard them. The fascination started with I wanna Hold Your Hand, my first favorite Beatles song, and since then not only am  I in love with the songs i love, but every Now And Then , I keep falling in love with another Beatles song, which i might just have heard earlier but not loved enough!

I have just one wish, To see Paul perform once before he dies, an event about Onion are already talking about 😐

PS : Moderators, can we have Let It Be faces also as emoticons. Really like that cover!

Joe originally said he wanted to stick with AHDN themed smileys, but a few smiles later, two-virginsapple01blue-meanieapple02, he might consider it. I'd still like a Stuart Sutcliffe with sunglasses.

What forums did you try before? The forums I found were ancient.

Anyway, welcome to this fab forum. a-hard-days-night-john-1

Hi Himank. Good to have you join us.

You saw the Onion post too, huh? I wasn't sure what to make of it – obviously it's a bit of fun, but the timing could have been better.

I don't think I'll add LIB smileys, though I may make some others in future. I'd rather avoid creating loads and just have ones that are useful (and not all the ones we do have could be described as that, but never mind). Stu in sunglasses is a good idea though.

I think the “bad timing” was kind of the whole point. Does anyone know if the Paul quote from the end (I wish I could be at my own funeral) is real? Because I think that's what it's all about. Onion stories make me laugh, but usually it seems that they have a point. This one would be “I know it's a big anniversary, but remember, one of the Beatles who's still alive is making jokes about his own death. Don't take it so seriously.” I posted it because I thought it was a hilarious video that Beatles fans would enjoy.

If I seem to act unkind, it's only me, it's not my mind that is confusing things.

Hi, I'm Maddi. I'm from California and finally decided to join this forum after following some of the topics for a few days. I only got into the Beatles about 3/4 months ago, but already I'm in love with them. I first really heard the Beatles' music while on a road trip with a friend. We were listening to Maxwell's Silver Hammer and I liked it so much I asked her who it was by. She gave me the death glare and said, “Get out of the car. Right now. How can you not know this is by the Beatles?” (Looking back, I'm not sure why she got so upset – Maxwell's Silver Hammer isn't that popular of a song, but she's a hardcore Beatlemaniac like myself, and was very offended. a-hard-days-night-paul-1) After that little episode I decided to really give them a listen, and I've been a huge fan ever since.

A few random Beatles facts would be that my favorite Beatle is a tie between John & George, favorite album the White Album , favorite movie is A Hard Day's Night, and since favorite song is impossible to choose, I'll just tell you that I prefered their later work, from Rubber Soul onwards.

Well, I'm off to think of a Beatle's song quote to use as a signature. Bye!

*stands up* Hi Number Nine. Hi Winters. My name is Mithveaen, and I'm a Beatle Bible forum addicted.

Number Nine is a cool nick!! And I dunno but the first thing I thought of Miss Winters was this guy… (awesome miniseries, awesome character, awesome actor. Life's Charlie Crews was to me a mix of John and George a-hard-days-night-john-1 a-hard-days-night-george-5 )

And just in case somebody wonder who he is, that's Major Richard Winters portrayed by Damien Lewis in the fantastic miniseries Band of Brothers.
