Thanks, all! It’s still a bit stressful because there’s a lot to get done in a short span of time, but we’re almost there!

I’m currently finding out what the famous Audacity is through the Forum –Ron Nasty posted a very kind reply to me, thanks Ron! Aside from that I’m renovating my house (parts of it, in any case, it’s going to take many months and I’m doing it slowly). I’ve stopped reading Phil Dick’s biography but I’m still composing tunes and learning how to draw and learning percussion (I started this year and I enjoy those two activities very much). Cheers,

Oudis.

It’s the 3rd day of heavy rain and im sure that sometime  it will rain again and yesterday at 8pm our whole house light was gone cause of some explosion in the sort of thing that supply electricity (dont know its name) and it came back today at 1.30pm man that was horrible, no light for almost 16hrs and it was still raining and laptop battery was zero and i couldnt listen to beatles and i spent the whole day in boredom as i woke up at 4am and couldn’t sleep and one funny moment is that i didn’t shut the window of kitchen , hoping rain will stop as it was almost over and when i woke up there was flood in kitchen.

But my school was closed today becoz of heavy heavy rain, which is going nice for me and i also had many long tests today ahdn_paul_01

A Nato conference is happening here in south Wales. There are armed police everywhere. Here’s Cardiff Castle, where Obama is hosting a meal tonight. There’s a 10ft high steel fence outside the castle. A castle. A large structure built to prevent people from getting in.

The conference is happening in Celtic Manor, a golf course/resort between Cardiff and Newport (another city a few miles from here). There’s a much longer fence around the entire perimeter of the resort – it goes on for miles and miles, and must have cost a fortune.

There have also been plenty of helicopters circling, though it’s been a lot quieter today. Barack Obama visited a school in Newport (city a few miles from Cardiff) this morning. Oh, and this bad boy rocked up to Cardiff Bay a couple of days ago, along with five or six others:

The blue caps – instead of helmets – are apparently to make them seem less threatening. Yep. For those who don’t know the UK, we’re not used to seeing armed police wandering around unless it’s in an airport or an important building. The whole city is very odd at the moment – the people who live here are getting rather fed up with it all.

Boys and their toys. It all feels like a weird pissing contest in which our city is the loser.

Jeepers. What a mess! I wonder if a city has a say on whether these conferences can be held in the city?

I think Cardiff and Newport councils were glad to host it. They’re desperate for anything positive that’ll raise the profile and bring in some investment. Not a lot happens round here.

The disruption really is baffling though. We have heads of state visiting all the time. I was working opposite the castle many years ago and the Queen and her entourage arrived for a visit. There were plenty of uniformed and plain clothes police milling around but we were still able to go about our business unhindered. Apparently a lot of the extra Nato security is at Obama’s request.

It’d make more sense for something like Nato to be held at the same location every time, somewhere that’s set up to handle it all without disruption. Davos seem to do it well enough (I assume; I’ve no idea what it’s like the rest of the year). Cardiff is a textbook example of somewhere that’s absolutely not a good location.

“Look at my soothing hat and not the f***ing machine gun!” Are you kidding me? Unfortunately, here in the States, armed police are the norm and not the exception. They don’t wander the streets wielding assault rifles, mind you. But they do carry pistols, tasers and mace/pepper spray. They pretty much have too because every two-bit hoodlum is armed as well.

I don’t think this type of situation is what our forefathers had in mind when they insisted on our right to bear arms. I have nothing against gun ownership for people who enjoy hunting with rifles made specifically for that purpose. I do however, have a HUUUUUGE problem with private citizens owning pistols and/or assualt rifles. Let’s face it, what are they going to be used for? Are you going to blow that deer to bits with an Uzi? Not likely. Are you going to ask that moose “Do you feel lucky, punk?” while pointing a 44 Magnum at it’s head? Uh, don’t think so. They are going to be used to cause great bodily harm to someone or at least separate said someone from a vital body part. Guns don’t kill people – people with guns kill people.

Today is a day of great joy for me! Every day of the fourth month I celebrate the show Paul that I did last year, on May 4. Because it was a very special day, and rare, I make sure to remind you all and hear your playlist, and write down what I’m feeling when listening to the songs, because they always had a beautiful meaning to me, but after the show, they took another dimension and I imagine myself there! Still, that show makes me very homesick!
