I am preparing my Annual Report for my section of the state library association. Here’s what I have as of now. Names are changed to protect the innocent.

Technical Services Roundtable
Annual Report 2013-2014

OFFICERS:

Ahhh Girl (Chair), Sadie (Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect), Chuck (Secretary)

Chuck did such a wonderful job writing down the Things We Said Today each time the roundtable met. We didn’t have to wait very long for the minutes after each meeting; he posted them very quickly. Sadie, I have all confidence that TSRT will be in good hands as I pass it From Me To You .

MEETINGS:

Do You Want To Know A Secret ? Ask me why I love TSRT, and I will tell you it is because the members of TSRT just have to act naturally and the Magical Mystery Tour of another successful year of networking and programming makes me Glad All Over . I have only Words Of Love for all those who participated in meetings and gave me so much help this year: list of names.

We met here, there, and everywhere during the year. Four of our seven meetings were offered in a hybrid face-to-face/WebEx format. The remaining three meetings were face-to-face only.

WORKSHOP:

Her Majesty (aka The Queen Bee), Prudence, the speaker for our Bee Informed: Taking the Sting out of RDA workshop asked us, “Do you want to know what you’re doing when it comes to RDA?” She gave us a solid rolling start then told us Think For Yourself . She Said She Said Tell Me What You See on the ingenious “book” and “video” handouts she gave us to catalog using RDA standards. Her handouts from the workshop will help the catalogers across the state recognize and create quality RDA records.

CONFERENCE:

TSRT sponsored six sessions at conference:

State of ILL presented by Dave

I Never Met-a-Data I Didn’t Like presented by Henry and Desmond

Acquiring E-books presented by Ahhh Girl, Rita, and Lucy

TSRT Business Meeting presented by Ahhh Girl

BISAC: Not Just for the Bookstore? presented by Lucille

Not Your Grandpa’s Comic Books presented by Lizzie, Martha, Jude, and Maxwell

ELECTION RESULTS:

Mary Jane is our new Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect. Michelle is our new Secretary. Since TSRT is such an outstanding group of people, they will not be saying I should have known better by the end of their service time.

INVITATION:

If you’ve ever wondered what goes on at a TSRT meeting, we hope you will join us Any Time At All . I’ve got a feeling you will dig it.

Submitted by Ahhh Girl
TSRT Chair, 2013-2014

Haha, great job.

Just one thing is that you should credit George too, seeing as you use Think For Yourself .

Wonderful AG. Don’t your workmates mind the song titles being added? Over here if folk did that it be unprofessional (old fart stick-in-the-muds).

To add to Faceo’s post and to claim the full house i’d give Richie his credit for What Goes On .

I did this for our official workshop flyer a few months ago (you may remember it once you see it here, I posted it another thread back then), and the people loved it! They haven’t quit talking about it yet! They are all expecting a doozy of an annual report out of me.

Bee Informed : Taking the Sting Out of RDA

The time for sticking your head in the sand and pretending that RDA (Resource Description and Access) won’t come to pass was yesterday. The national RDA committee took a long and winding road and ended up with a new set of cataloging rules we in library technical-services land must follow. Are you crying HELP! yet? With a little help from your friends in the OLA Technical Services Roundtable (TSRT), you can learn about these new rules and how to apply them to a variety of formats. We Can Work It Out and help you carry that load of learning the new ropes. Though $60 for OLA members and $120 for non-members can’t buy you love, it can buy you a day of practical, hands-on experience learning how to use the RDA rules.

We will all come together on October 25, 2013 at the Northwest Library (5600 NW 122nd St, Oklahoma City, OK 73142) for this event. Prudence, our lively, informative instructor and group work coordinator for the day and her small-group assistants, won’t leave you feeling like you’ve been through a hard day’s night. From the time we say hello at 9:00 am for registration until we say goodbye at 3:30 pm, we will be covering this goal and its objectives:

Goal:

Participants will be able to identify, verify, and create catalog records for materials in various carrier types, using RDA standards and MARC formatting

Objective 1: Participants will be able to identify MARC records created under RDA standards

Objective 2: Participants will be able to utilize MARC fields to describe materials by RDA content type,

                       media type, and carrier type

Objective 3: Participants will be able to utilize RDA standards to transcribe information about materials,

including title, publication, extent, and dimensions

Please, please me by registering for the workshop by October 19th. Here are links to the official flyer and the online registration form:

The future looks a bit bleak.

I don’t want to go into detail too much, but we might have to move out of this house pretty soon and my parents may not be together anymore soon either. I actually don’t mind the latter lol. I also think my grandma won’t make the end of the year. On top of that I’m unemployed, and I’m too old to get another one of those side jobs now. I’m too expensive. This sucks, especially since our financials are in the state they’re in and I’m thinking of moving out. Of course I have a scholarship, but I’ll never get everything together before the end of this year. I’m also a bit worried. I mean, how am I going to manage living on my own?

I’m just trying to pass all my exams and essays and stuff, so I’ll have all my ECTS at the end of this school year. At least then my study is safe. So I’m trying to focus a lot on school, I’m actually overworking myself a bit. And it’s very hard to focus on school or anything else for that matter at the moment.

It’s a good thing I’m such an optimistic and cheerful person lol.

Listened to Mr. Kite’s cover (check it out, it’s good), as well listening to Ashley Eriksson. Probably not many will know her, but she did the ending credits theme for the animated TV series, Adventure Time, and she has wrote and sing marvelous songs and her singing is kind of whispered but that gives her uniqueness and beautifulness. This is one of her songs that have caught me. I have been repeating this song for the last hour or two.

Let me take you down 'cause I'm going to...Strawberry Fields.

Just got done watching my own Game 1. Stupid Rangers. Overtime. We’re not good enough to win this series. I’ve known that the whole time, I was trying to deny it though. Stupid Penguins.

Haha, yeah I watched that…too bad. My good friend (& fellow Beatle fanatic in uni) is a big Sidney Crosby/Penguins worshipper. I’m gonna give him a call tonight and razz him!

Coincidentally, I’m watching the Ducks/Kings right now, and the DJ in the arena just played a bit of “Tomorrow Never Knows ” during a pause!
