Boris Johnson’s just a pillock. I can’t see him doing anything like Ford has done, anything that will cause international newspapers to take note.

We have a member here who’s from the Phillipenes. I hope he’s okay.

Here’s hoping all is okay with Gerell. They had an earthquake a few weeks ago as well. And it seems a while since Gerell’s last post.

Give us a wave when you can, Gerell. Let us know how things are with you.

The earthquake was on Cebu, the typhoon seems to have hit Samar hardest – though yes, I hope all are well.

My relatives are mostly in Manila and seem to be ok so far.

A super Typhoon is headed toward the Philippians.  http://www.huffingtonpost.com/….._hp_ref=tw

Winds of 195mph (potentially the worst to hit land) sounds really scary, and in Britain a week or so ago the media were going mad about winds of 80mph. Reading stories of pieces of iron sheets flying about like kites is incredible. Sadly three people have been killed already. Here’s hoping it passes thru without too much destruction and no further loss of life.

Where I live Hurricane Camille hit in 1969 with almost the same amount winds. Of course a few years ago we had Hurricane Katrina, with less winds, more water, and bigger eye; therefore, more destruction. I always find it funny when national media is like “super storm or monster hurricane head it for the coast” and its like a category 1. I know up on the east coast their building aren’t secure enough to handle hurricanes, so that is why they got beat up by the storm Sandy; however, again me growing up on the gulf coast I find it funny they call it “Superstorm Sandy” and it was a category 1. Category 1 is nothing to us, its like a really bad thunderstorm, which we get a lot during the summer.

Anyways, I hope there is not too much loss of life or destruction in this typhoon. heart

Sadly the death toll is already up around 1200, and rising. And now it heads to Vietnam. Makes our hurricane force winds a couple of weeks ago seem petty.

Best wishes to you, Gerell. Here’s hoping you and yours are okay.

Horrific reports regarding the Super Typhoon and they are only going to get worse during the search and recovery process. There is very little to be said as there is nothing you can do up against winds which are that powerful. Just hope and pray for as many survivors as possible.

Hopefully Gerell will let us know he’s safe but with communications down in so many places who knows if that’s even possible and for how long.

I know this may be a small issue in the short run, but in the overall making of a lifetime, I hope Gerell doesn’t miss the McCartney concert.

Yes, hoping Gerrell and his loved ones are safe and sound. I hope he’ll be able to let us know.

That satellite photo of the storm from space is crazy.

Holy crap! A police chief of one province of the Philippines has estimated 10,000 deaths in his province alone. When the appeals for aid come, as they undoubtedly will in the days ahead, I hope people put their hand in their pocket.

My prayers are with you Gerell. My prayers are with the Philippines.

Yahoo News:

TACLOBAN, Philippines (Reuters) – At least 10,000 people died in the central Philippine province of Leyte after Typhoon Haiyan, one of the strongest storms ever to make landfall, lashed the province, swallowing coastal towns, a senior police official said on Sunday.

About 70 to 80 percent of the area in the path of Haiyan in Leyte province was destroyed, said Chief Superintendent Elmer Soria.

“We had a meeting last night with the governor and the other officials. The governor said based on their estimate, 10,000 died,” Soria told Reuters.

Oh god that’s terrible. I think the worst kind of disasters are the ones caused by Mother Nature because you can do nothing to stop them. My thoughts and prayers are with the many affected today.

Just to put people’s mind at rest, I have news of Gerell. I’m afraid I cannot give any details of how I know what I know because I have not had direct contact with him, so do not have his permission to say anything, knowing the concern for him however, I can assure you that he has been on the web within the last day, and that he does not seem to have been caught up in the typhoon. I hope that reassures those who have been worried. I know it has done me.

Thanks for the update, mja. I was thinking about him yesterday and wondering.

The Toronto Major Tom Ford is back in the news, this time apologising for “obscene comments he made on live TV while denying he had offered oral sex to a female staff member.”.

The whole saga would make for a farcical comedy as a movie or tv programme.

Thank you everyone, I have never felt such concern from people, especially over the Internet. heartheartheartheartapple01apple01apple01heartheartheartheart

At a lost of words everyone. I don’t know what to say. The typhoon that hit the country is the strongest one yet. I live on the highlands on a major island north of where most of the typhoon wreaked its wrath, my town is flood-proof and as far as I know if the water here even manages to reach ankle level, the rest of towns will have been already submerged. Rest assured I am safe, I would have liked to talk more about what the government here is ‘doing’ but it would ruin my day. blue-meanie

(I miss these smileys) stay-on-topic

I’ve had a runny nose for the past few months now I wasn’t able to be on-line that much, turns out I had a condition called Nasal Vestibulitis, a bacterial infection which can lead to an incurable disease called cavernous sinus thrombosis . I had to be taken to the hospital quickly and be treated with antibiotics directly into the veins. I will be having Nasal Endoscopy tomorrow, hopefully the results would be ok. That wasn’t the problem.

The last forum post before this one was regarding Paul’s concert. I had begun walking the papers needed for everything, a couple of problems arose, I wasn’t allowed to buy the ticket until I got all papers set. The day arrived, I have finally got all the papers needed, hotel booked, and etc. I was already considered a ‘fan’ on Paul’s website but I was too late, all the tickets were sold-out. There was only one option left, buy the VIP package. My parents have already agreed upon it and I thought I was actually going to go. Someone began squandering money; electronics gadgets and jewellery were pawned. That was why I wasn’t able to go. I was really sad and couldn’t be asked to go on-line.

Thrilled to hear you are safe from the mayhem unleashed by the the super tornado Gerald, hopefully everything will go to plan tomorrow at the hospital and you’ll be out and about very quickly.

Crap that you didn’t get to see Paul in concert but considering the hell in the Philippines it’s not that big a deal. Keep safe and please let us know how you get on tomorrow when you can.apple01

So relieved to hear from you, Gerell! I’m heartbroken for you not being able to see Paul after trying so hard. But really glad you and yours are safe and sound. Hope you have a quick and thorough recovery.

Very good to hear from you, Gerell! Hope you didn’t mind the message from me yesterday too much!!

So glad to hear you’re on one of the islands that didn’t bear the brunt of the typhoon. Sad to hear your other news and I hope all goes well with the hospital tomorrow.

Please, don’t be a stranger. We have missed you around here.
