Okay, Arcade Fire fans, what album would you recommend to a new listener to start off with?
(There have been so many posts on how good they are that I am expecting a band of Beatles calibre, just fyi.)
They aren't quite as listenable as the Beatles, but they are pretty darn good. They're much more grandiose. Their songs tend to have McCartney's emotional side and Lennon's growling commentary.
Annoyingly, I haven't listened to The Suburbs all the way through because I don't own a copy and they aren't on Spotify. I'd recommend Funeral ahead of Neon Bible. I wrote about both albums on my tumblr a while ago, here is a link: http://brailli.tumblr.com/music – I also talk about my other 18 favourite albums of the past 20 years, Neon Bible and Funeral are at 8 and 4 respectively.
I'm post the opening tracks from both albums for you:

OfflineI've been listening lately to Radiohead's Kid-A. Brilliant album.
And the thing is that I didn't realize they also sing Creep, until someone pointed out today. I don't like that song, but that album, I insist, brilliant.

OfflineI have listened to Radiohead a lot, but very little of their material sticks with me. I couldn't hum the tune to Karma Police, for example.
Paranoid Android is fantastic though, and Kid A is supposed to be a really good album (I don't remember disliking it, at least).

At this moment in time, OK Go and The Strokes. (I'm seeing the latter in 12 days and I'm so excited.
)
WHAT?! Oh my goodness. Very very jealous.
As for the Radiohead discussion above, I enjoy them but it did take me a long time to get used to them. I love Separator off the new album, The King of Limbs, and a few others that I like are 15 Step and High and Dry. Rather chill music.
I am really liking my britpop right now, that's for sure. Arctic Monkeys, Kooks, etc.

OfflineOh, Radiohead! They're basically my fourth favorite band of all time. OK Computer is absolutely fantastic, though I'm currently obsessing over the song "Fake Plastic Trees".

Oh good, another Arcade Fire fan! I recently had a listen to Neon Bible and really liked it. Still need to purchase the Suburbs though…

I'm seeing Arctic Monkeys in January. It's gonna be awesome.
I could be mistaken, but didn't StarWisher say they were absolutely fantastic when she saw them?
BoT: Arcade Fire by a longshot. Now wrestling with question of whether Funeral is better or worse the Suburbs.

OfflineFuneral is more depressing, more downbeat, and my current go to album, even more so then any Beatles thing. Funeral (btw, there's no 'The', it's just Funeral) is very "the dog just died wallow in tears" album, whereas The Suburbs is more the "Why the hell I am stuck in Suburbia?" I still haven't heard Neon Bible, but I have it on my computer. Soon. Although Neighbourhood #4 is the only song to ever tear me up. Why, I don't know.

I think she did. It's gonna be so gooooood!
I think I prefer The Suburbs, but I have a feeling that Funeral will grow on me and become my favourite. They're both amazing albums, though.

Where's Neon Bible in that? I haven't heard it yet, but I'm playing it now.Funeral is a grower, most certainly. When I first played it, my first thought was they got better with age. Now it's "impossible to beat that".

Yeah I like them actually. I liked The Suburbs the most I think. May have to give them a bit more of a listen.
Thank you!
