Huw Bunford has said of McCartney's contribution: "He took it with good nature. You kind of see how far you can go sometimes … we figured we already had a bass and singers so we really didn't need any more musicians. So we figured he could crunch vegetables".
Oh, those cheeky bastards!
Joe, from the few samples you provided, I can tell I will want to hear more. I noticed an SFA channel on YT that I will sample at a later time. I really like Hometown Unicorn. It's like Weezer singing the Grateful Dead (I really like both). From 2:20 to 2:50 there is a Cosmic Charlie-like lilting of music and lyrics. And speaking of lyrics, what a cool song Ellie chose to walk down the aisle to.
Gnik – I really do like Jazz, both old and new. It's just that I spend so much of my hard earned pay on Rock music; either playing catch-up on the stuff I love but don't own or new stuff I start digging and just gotta have (curse you, Joe and your SFA!). That's kinda what I meant when I said I didn't have a Jazz act in mind that I couldn't live without. I do listen to a lot of it when the missus and I are doing our chores around the house. Very soothing.
mr. S – I'll check out AF later today. I got a kick out of your story about driving "down" to Watertown, NY. When I lived in NY, Watertown was "way up there"!
The sharing of music in this thread is fantastic. Please keep it up, everyone!

If you were truly awesome you'd have a comeback.

I loved it – very Beatles-ish. It's as if Paul wrote an upbeat musical track for which John or George wrote the lyrics. Between these guys and Joe's recommendation of SFA, I have a lot of new music to listen to this weekend.
Thanks guys!

Porcupine Tree, Genesis, Rush.
I will pay the person who explains to me why Rush is so popular 1 million dollars.

Good to hear. I was playing them earlier – so great.

I really liked the old, old Rush (pre 1980). I've seen them in concert 3 times. I didn't really care for anything they did after 1980.
Since I can't explain why they are so poular, you can keep your money. Put it towards some new music instead!

I just steal my brother's stuff. It saves me the cash and gives him some belief I'm changing my tastes. Here's another of his great findings: The Cave – Mumford and Sons. And, his favourite: Dust Bowl Dance.

Mumford and Sons got quite big over here. If you haven't already, I'd give Little Lion Man a listen. They're alright.

OfflineI've got that album on now. Little Lion Man is what, track seven? *checks cover* Yep, 7. I've got Dust Bowl Dance playing now. I just love how the singer sings these lyrics. Especially how he sings "the noose around your neck" in The Cave.

. Arcade Fire's The Suburbs. So (and in the backseat, such a disadvantage), I ask someone to crank it up, and then me and my brother started singing.
Pun intended?
I don't think Arcade Fire have ever done anything that wasn't genius.
I don't mind Mumford and Sons either, though their musical tracks sound eerily similar in every song. My favourite song of theirs is Winter Winds.

Certainly not intended. And I agree wholeheartedly.

OfflineOkay, Arcade Fire fans, what album would you recommend to a new listener to start off with?
(There have been so many posts on how good they are that I am expecting a band of Beatles calibre, just fyi.
)
