haha just noticed that Clash and Oasis both have a song titled "Stand By Me".

There's a John Lennon cover of "Stand by Me" as well. Interesting how it's all connected…

Whats the odds on Oasis having a song called Stand By Me because of John's cover?

it's obvious that Oasis are big Lennon/Beatles fans, 'cause he immitates his looks and you can se the influence on Oasis' songs (like She's Electric. a part from this song sounds just like "I don't know how …" line from While My Guitar Gently Weeps) but the lyrics aren't much like Lennon's "Stand by me".

Yeah, but the name of the song, like George's Wonderwall. Its not just merely coincidence that Oasis have a song of the same name as Wonderwall. And so i can see Liam or Noel doing the same with Stand By Me. Heck they nicked nearly everything else, sorry, were paying tribute. No, nicked is definately the write word.

I didn't know that George has a song "Wonderwall".a-hard-days-night-ringo-7

I don't know much about Beatles' solo cariers …

anyway, it doesn't matter if they faked titles. a-hard-days-night-ringo-10 they're still pretty good.

Wonderwall was the soundtrack to the movie of the same name. George recorded it in late 1967 early 1968. Its mainly all instrumental and not something ive ever heard.

The Clash's song isn't called Stand By Me. It's called Train in Vain, or Train in Vain (Stand By Me) if you're American and bought the original single.

Wings are the only band in a class with the beatles for me. I also like the stones, dylan and nirvana but not nearly as much as I like The Beatles or Wings

The Beatles are really the only oldies band I love. I guess Nirvana's ok… And the Red Hot Chili Peppers were in the 90s too, but I like alternative bands the best. Paramore and Florence + the Machine are my faves.
But no one comes close to the Beatles of course.

The Beatles are the only band I can confidently say are my favorite. I honestly don't think I can name a second-favorite band because I have like a three-way tie for second place…but if we can name solo artists, I'm like Bob Dylan all the way!

There are a lot of bands I like, but if I have to keep it short, then

Radiohead

Nirvana

Oasis (mostly first two albums)

Red Hot Chili peppers

I know for a fact that Oasis was pretty much obsessed with the Beatles…. And that's why I love them. Their music sounds so similar it's scary. They mentioned Yellow Submarine in Supersonic for Pete's sake! And to me, Don't Look Back In Anger sounds like Happiness Is A Warm Gun… But anyway. Other bands.

Oasis

Blur! (My brother just ordered the box set… I'm stoked)

Nirvana

Dion

Bob Dylan

Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons (don't make fun…)

BUDDY HOLLY.

And most doo-wop. I like a lot of Brit pop from the 90s too. Basically, if I think it sounds anything like the Beatles, I like it.

Since you mention Blur, you should listen to Gorillaz, it is also Damon's band but totally different music. I remember buying their debut album…

I have always thought that ''She's Electric'' sounds a bit like something that Paul or John could've wrote. I can't remember the words properly but isn't it something like ''she's got a sister and in the palm of her hand there's a blister'' and then something to do with someone being in the oven.

''We're just knocked out. We heard about the sell out. You gotta get an album out, you owe it to the people. We're so happy we can hardly count.''

.

"The Predator" is my favourite rap album of all time! (And there's plenty of great "G" bands out there)

Also, I just wanna clarify: When I left that blank "X" on my A-Z list, I wasn't really leaving it blank – I was referring to the band, X! They were great! Well, they were more than OK for about their first four albums back in the '80s. XTC and X-Ray Spex are the only other "x" bands I own. So there.

I like black music, disco music. I like the disco music that's out now - John Lennon, 1975

I'm in love with the Tragically Hip right now. It's funny – they're known as such a hard rock band, but their best songs are all their ballads – like Wheat Kings

Unknown is saying Nilsson is his favourite, Herman's Hermits being a very close second.
