We always hear about the fifteen minutes of fame and what some lengths people will go through to be noticed. Adulation is another tough subject for me. What is truly important is to learn who you are and be yourself. We need to love life and remember the cup is half full and not half empty no matter how tough things can get and it can get very tough on a day by day basis. We need to set the example for ...

I was never popular, but I tutored popular kids in math and science. They were distracted by unnecessary drama, and did not understand the importance of good grades until they applied to colleges.

but there's also a lot of modern popular music that's great, like Muse, Coldplay, Mumford and Sons, the Killers..they're all bands I like very much.

So popular doesn't always mean crap, but it's just what's in fashion at the moment. It's a hype.

Exactly, there was always crap but only good quality music stands out after years. I would like to add Arctic Monkeys and Radiohead, RHCP etc.. (though last two bands are formed in 90's and 80's, still rockin' great music).

Most ''popular'' people I know aren't even liked well by others. They're just popular because they're arrogant and agressive.

I myself never really cared for popularity. I was always an outsider and I was fine with that. I had enough friends to have a good social life. It already started in 7th grade, because I wore clothes that were considered uncool and weird. I wore coloured jeans and big bows in my hair. That's when I knew it was okay to ...

Popularity doesn't matter to me at all. I'm not popular, and I honestly don't care, because I know I'm going to be more successful than all those people who throw their souls away to be popular. As for music, a lot of people don't like the Beatles, and those same people are listening to Avenged Sevenfold and AC/DC. People (in my school, at least) think it's cooler if you go deaf in two years than if you listen to "hippies".

Are you alright, Mr Sun King? In several recent discussions you have been uncharacteristically belligerent over small matters (which may warrant discussion or even debate, but not to such a heated extent).

I'm okay. I guess I'm just slightly more... susceptible to being belligerent. I do admit to being less then gentlemanly upthread (and in the other threads to which you refer). I'll be more respectful.
