The whole 'being popular' has always fascinated me. I will never understand why we as human beings need so much attention. Having said that, on some level I give anyone credit who can write a popular song.

Popularity seems important in high school, but once you leave, you realize that you wasted your time. I was never popular, but I tutored popular kids in math and science. They were distracted by unnecessary drama, and did not understand the importance of good grades until they applied to colleges.

I love those bands too, I actually love a lot of modern bands, but if I had to write them all down it'd take a long time so I just mentioned 3 of them.

That's right. There has always been crap music, even back in the 60s and 70s there was crap.

So popular doesn't always mean crap, but it's just what's in fashion at the moment. It's a hype.

Exactly, there was always crap but only good quality music stands out after years. I would like to add Arctic Monkeys and Radiohead, RHCP etc.. (though last two bands are formed in 90's and 80's, still rockin' great music).
