I love Christmas! My family has a few nice traditions. My little sister and I always watch The X-Files episode How the Ghosts Stole Christmas before we fall asleep. We're still big babies in that we sleep in the same bed the night before Christmas while Mom puts presents under the tree (as in, it has to be like we still believe in Santa to make it more fun). My older sister used to join in the fun on Christmas Eve, but now she is married, so she has to have some new traditions. Then, we get up really early (like 4 or 5), wait on my older sister and her husband, and then open presents! This year will be a little different, though, because we have church first, and my sister has a baby. So it will be 2x the fun with him!

This will probably be the last year it will be like this. My younger sister is getting married next year, and I will hopefully be at medical school...Sadness.

I asked for a lot of new music for Christmas (The Who, Beethoven, Mozart, ATMP, Beatles vinyls), a Hofner bass necklace and a keychain of Paul's Gibson with the kids painted on it, and I think my mom got me a Kindle Fire that I'm not supposed to know about!

As for Christmas music, I've always liked the standards more than the fun songs. I like Carol of the Bells, White Christmas, and anything by Nat King Cole. Of course, I also like Happy Xmas and Wonderful Christmastime. I never even knew who they were by, and I liked them anyways. I do enjoy Rudolph and Frosty, but they get annoying more than something like Carol of the Bells or O Holy Night.

I can't wait!

Baby Its Cold Outside was ruined for me by Tom Jones' truly awful duet with Cerys Matthews. There are some great classics out there, Nat King Cole did the best version of Jingle Bells, there is no better rendition of White Christmas than Bing Crosbys, and The Spinners Twelve Days Of Christmas (Liverpool Spinners not Detroit).

Christmas is probably my favorite time of the year. I just love putting up Christmas decorations, listening to Christmas music and watching Christmas specials (even though some of the songs can get old after a while), seeimg that white blanket of snow outside, etc. The list could go on forever!

One UK tradition is the Queens speech. Its traditional for it to be on at 3pm every Christmas Day (ie 25th December and not Eve, Day and Boxing Day) and traditional for many people to avoid watching it, one being me. Cant think of many more boring things than watching that.

I understand it being not interesting, but once you have Freddie Mercury do it, the WHOLE thing changes. This made me laugh:

I have more of Stevie's Christmas videos on the way!

Sorry Ali but was that meant to be Freddie Mercury in the link you posted. Really didnt sound or act like Freddie. Tho my stance is immediately biased as im not a huge impressionist fan.

These vids are really funny and clever, beatles animated christmas speeches. There are 3 or 4 of them on youtube.

I know it isn't the real Freddie, it was Stevie Riks. He's an impressionist. It's ok if you don't like it, but I just found it funny :)

I suppose I'm somewhat of a Christmas spoiler…"no presents, no cards, no tree, NO turkey, NO ham"*sigh*sorry. I did decorate a christmas tree, though, but it wasn't mine. And seaglass, your wishlist looks pretty much how mine would if I would make one. It's kind of scary.

including the leather jacket and the Sims game??? a-hard-days-night-paul-3Wow. That is kind of scary.

The Hard Day's Night photo strip with Santa hats at the top of the webpage made me explode laughing in the middle of a library. Merry Christmas to you too, Joe!a-hard-days-night-john-7

We usually have pork roast for Christmas dinner. One year my mom made some duck dish with a fruity sauce, but it was straight-up foul so she never did THAT again.

Well, yeah. Fake leather, though. I would be too embarrassed to ask fake leather pantsa-hard-days-night-ringo-12 And I actually have Plastic ono Band...or I used to, but then I lost it. What a tragedy. And I haven't yet to buy the Sims 3, anyway, since it's so expensive(at least it used to)but I loved Sims 2 petsa-hard-days-night-george-5...Until I lost the password and couldn't play it anymore.

a-hard-days-night-ringo-8I don't really think I want leather pants, I'd look like a fool.

And yeah, Sims is awesome. None of the real-life people I try to make turn out right though.

The first snowfall has arrived, not that it will last long on the ground as its been raining so much. Anyone else had snow yet this end of 2011?

I'm enjoying reading everyone's traditions. My wife and I are like 2 little kids when it comes to Christmas. Of course I can be like a little kid on the other 364 days, but I digress.

Having lived 2000 miles away from "home" for so long, Zag & I came up with our own traditions. On Christmas eve, we go out visiting friends and neighbors. Then on Christmas morning, after the opening of the presents, we feast on a breakfast of chorizo with eggs and potatoes washed down with mimosas. While sipping mimosas, we then play my favorite Christmas movie, "A Christmas Story". Christmas dinner will be either lasagna or a baked ham.

Now that we have moved back to the same time zone that our families live in (about a 5 hour drive), we go home for the holidays every other year which means our traditions get a bit sidetracked. But that is OK as a family Christmas is very cool.

My favorite Christmas song is "Santa Claus Is Back In Town" – a Lieber and Stoller number sung by Elvis.

We own on DVD most of the classics like Charlie Brown, Frosty the Snowman, Santa Claus is Comin' to Town, It's a Wonderful Life, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, and a number of others. We watched The Polar Express and A Muppet Christmas Carol last night!

For me, over the last 2 years, it's officially Christmas season when I see the santa hats on the Bible's logo. Thanks Joe

Cheers.

To the fountain of perpetual mirth, Let it roll for all its worth.

Muppet's Christmas Carol is a must watch every christmas. I would love to see the Charlie Brown christmas film but i can only get it in 1 shop for a rip off price. Maybe i should look online but you end up getting charged the reduced price of the dvd for post and packaging.

Last year for the first time ever i watched Its A Wonderful Life, one of the christmas standards, and found it really dull, so much so sleep was brought on.

And Raymond Briggs' The Snowman is always shown on Channel 4 so try and catch that.

Edit: Can get a used copy of 'Charlie Brown – I Want A Dog For Christmas/A Charlie Brown Christmas' for £98.73. Bargain.

It will never snow there! haha. Unless a disaster happens and the temperature gets all wrong etc. But in December gets really "cold" right now is like 79 degrees (Fahrenheit) it's normally 90-something degrees.

Right now I'm in San Francisco but it doesn't snow here either so, just when I travel to the mountains I see snow.

(About christmas:) We just decorate the tree, house and the gifts of course. I think we eat chicken andd we watch nothing special I think... a-hard-days-night-paul-4Don't want to ruin your christmas spirit though! I hope it'll be kind of different this year a-hard-days-night-george-8

Actually I have never seen snow, I don't like cold either..... a-hard-days-night-paul-10

Well we start celebrating Christmas as soon as December arrive. Yesterday I spent all day cleaning windows, washing curtains, dusting my living room and setting up my Christmas tree because an image of Our Lady of Guadalupe is visiting us today. There's an image from our neighborhood's church that is taken to different houses before her day that's on December 12th, and every day a rosary is prayed. We invited our guests tamales, atole and cookies.

Then we have the Posadas, parties before Xmas. It's nice, we have piñatas and Mexican food. And then on Christmas Eve we have the traditional Cena de Navidad, this year is going to be in one of my sister's house, and in the morning of Christmas I watch Ben-Hur and I spend time playing with my Dad or watching movies.

And we eat a lot, but this year I'm watching out my weight so... a-hard-days-night-ringo-6
