OfflineSince I'm a hip and awesome college student (in my mind), something that has come up in recent times between my parents and myself is the subject of getting a tattoo. Something interesting that I've seen are Beatles-related tattoos.
Although my parents completely refuse to allow me to get one, I just wanted to know the opinions of the rest of you: do you have any tattoos? What would you think about a Beatles-related tattoo? Would you get one?

OfflineHi there
I'm seriously considering getting a tatoo with SF and an infinite symbol to represent Strawberry Fields Forever.

OfflineI would never get a tattoo, and if it's as painful as it sounds, I don't think it's worth it. I would prefer to be branded, like a cow or a piggy. Though I wouldn't want some number, I would rather it be my name for identification purposes.

OfflineDont have one and have never been interested in them. What happens if in 5 years time you want it removed, is it not meant to be really painful to get off? Could never go thru with that.
Each to their own tho, some look great on folks others look rediculous – but the same can be said for hats. When it comes down to it if you want one later in life then get one and to hell what folks say (this is after being over the age of consent).

OfflineI kinda agree that it isn't really worth it.
I'm actually fascinated by them, but I have to keep reminding myself: if I do get one, will I really still want it when I'm 50? And is it worth it to get it and then regret it and get it painfully removed when I don't want it anymore?
(Not trying to change anyone's opinion, just stating my own)
If I was to get one, I'd probably get the words Jai Guru Deva Om on the inside of my arm, mainly because it has, apparently, like 15 meanings, and I LOVE confusing people with stuff like that.
I also just always loved that part of Across the Universe, so, yeah.
Don't expect me to ever actually get one, though.

OfflineI wouldn´t ever get one cos I don´t think it´s worth it and what if, like others have said, I don´t want it anymore when I´m old and wrinkly? But they look quite cool on some people. And what´s more cool than a Beatles-related one?? Surely there isn´t one cooler than that.

OfflineI'm really glad that I decided to ask this! I feel like society is all about instant gratification these days, so I'm glad that I can get the opinions from more of an impartial source rather than someone who has a strong opinion on how I live my life. (not control, just opinion.) It makes it easier to think things over now that I have more insight. I mean I've seen some pretty insane Beatles tattoos, but to each his own, I suppose

OfflineWell, I'm not actually 100% impartial: To my mind, if I can talk one person out of a tattoo, then that's one less tattoo that I'll never potentially have to look at! So I've got selfish reasons to advise against it. I just think there's too much useless decoration in the world already – billboards everywhere, adverts all over the ice on the hockey arenas, people filling up internet messsage boards with endless avatars and animated gifs, AARRGGH MAKE IT GO AWAY!! What is wrong with a plain white surface??
Sorry to hijack your thread for ranting purposes! If you really need a Beatles tattoo, why not a small unobtrusive one on the upper arm, where sleeves will cover it most of the time?

OfflineDon't know if some people thought I was saying that tattoos are cool, maybe I didn't explain myself correctly. I'll re-phrase, tattoos look OK on some people. I'm not encouraging anyone to get one, you know.

OfflineWe had a similar thread going at one time. Someone said they had the words "The movement you need" tattooed on their shoulder.
I would never get a tat myself, but I did think that one was clever. I also like mith's suggestion of "SF (INFINITY SYMBOL)" to signify Strawberry Fields Forever.
To the fountain of perpetual mirth, Let it roll for all its worth.

OfflineIf I were, it would have to be something small and meaningful. I would never get one just to have one. Like if it came from Beatles music, but had multiple meanings to me. But it's not a big possibility, now that I think about it. I've heard them described as permanent reminders of temporary feelings. ![]()

OfflineAww…come on. Why the tattoo negativity? I think given the right person and the right tattoo, they can be very cool. I don't think I'd get one because I'm not sure I have a strong enough statement to have permanently put on my body, but I've seen some awesome tattoos on tumblr. I think this one is pretty neat.
If people want to show art or their passions on their bodies, more power to them!

OfflineIf you google image "Beatles tattoos" and go to page 9 or so there is a picture of me and mine!
One day my (now) girlfriend was browsing beatles tattoos on google image and she came across the picture of me and said to herself "wow look at that hot redhead!" (This is what she told me at least!) So she clicked on the picture and it brought her to this website. From this website she went to the beatlesbible facebook page and I happened to have the picture she saw as my profile picture so she added me. We talked and it turned out we were going to the same paul concert a week from then. October 1st will be our one year anniversary![]()

For me (I can't speak for anyone else) I have no objection to the existence of tattoos. I guess my objection is to what they are used to mean. I have no actual objection to someone distorting their body, but I find them… ugly (especially the one you find neat – I'm sorry, but I just don't like it).

kedame, I would categorize the tattoo you posted under "insane Beatles tattoos" it's pretty cool, but not something I'd get. I like looking at it though![]()
RedLennon, that's an awesome story! Happy early anniversary!
Oh, definitely insane. I would never do it, but it is still pretty cool to look at. I think it's kind of awesome how some people use their bodies as a canvas. They are free enough with their bodies to do something drastic…which is something, as a person who really, really likes control, I could never, ever do. It's just a different perspective. They are fun to look at, though. Either in an, "Oh…cool!" way or a, "Oh, my god! What were they thinking?" way.
Also, apparently my cousin got a YOLO tattoo. I hope she is only pranking people on facebook because JAY-SUS! That would be a horrible tattoo.

OfflineI was telling a friend a coupla weeks ago that the lone tattoo I would LOVE to see on somebody: The simple word TATTOO in block letters! With or without quotation marks, I can't decide. That would appeal to my personal sense of humour/love of absurdity.
xpost – I had to google YOLO just now, never heard that acronym till now. Was seriously wondering if you misspelled "YOKO"! ![]()
