Regardless of what Lady Gaga wore, or wears, at least her music offered something different to what else was out there, and i mean more her earlier stuff as in the end, i dont have a clue where she has gone, it did become more about making an entrance and being seen, the image, than the music. And it got tiring. Should add i dont own 1 of her songs.

Your definition of "new" and "old" starts getting amazingly skewed as you age.

In my first semester of college in 1973, I took a music review course in which the prof started our first first class by playing something "contemporary" for us...Revolution #9. I sat there thinking, huh?? Old music, ancient!

Now...one of my favorite bands is Wilco. I think of them as a "new" band. But their first album was released almost 18 years ago. So much for "new."

I think the good thing about Paloma Faith is that, precisely what you said , her voice is easily recognisable. Which means that she doesn´t just sound bland and like all the other talentless artists out there, the ones who all sound the same to me.

As for Gaga, I agree, she now seems to focus on making the front cover of mags and newspapers rater than making music, which sort of goes against what ( I think ) she said she was all about when she first popped up.

I never got what's so ''original'' and ''interesting'' about Gaga. She sings songs about ''taking rides on discosticks'' for god sake.

Yes she dresses original, but really, there are other ways to leave your mark than wearing a meatdress or whatever.

Her voice is alright though, she's one of the few female singers of today who can actually sing.

I wasn't talking about what makes up mainstream media though, but those considered mainstream artists. 98% are, in the words of the late great Bill Hicks, "sucking Satan's c***", each and every one of them. Some of worth do get through and remind us that not everything new should be flushed down the toilet. Hell, I probably haven't listened to the radio in over a decade!

Music..meh..I think it's a bit 50/50, maybe 60/40. I listen to a lot of ''older'' music (but really, what is older? Is 90s considered ''older''?) but I also listen to a lot of modern stuff. I think there might be a bit more ''older'' stuff in my iTunes though.

I tend to like modern movies better than movies from the 50s or 60s.

My favourite "genre" (tend to avoid this word) is Rock And Roll (50's and 60's). I do have a bit of other Rock Tracks but I only select the stuff with "bassy" moments to compare it with Paul's.

Same goes with the television shows. I grew up with reruns of 'the classics' on Nick at Nite and TV Land in the 80s/90s. I'm not much for watching what's currently on tv, this day in age. I do like Mad Men though.

Movies from the 60s-90s are more of what I like to watch.

My favorite tv shows are from that time as well however I do enjoy Seinfeld and The Big Bang Theory.

Old movies from the thirties and forties are more enjoyable for me.
