Animal Farm wasn't as crazy in that respect, but it's still pretty heavy for a kid whose peers are still reading Judy Blume....

(There's your answer Long John Silver)

I've not heard of 'Burmese Days' before, but will have a look out for it. What's it about- apart from Burma, as the title suggests?

Great book. You could certainly find aspects of both "Piggies" and "Revolution" in there, although Orwell was surely talking about a different revolution than was in the air in '68. I suppose "Fool On The Hill" could apply tangentially to Clover - she was the vain, silly hair-ribbon-obsessed pony wasn't she? "Yesterday", afraid I don't see the connection to that one at all.

It's not about the Beatles. But it's rumored that piggies was inspired by the book. And you absolutely must read it. Its a fable and it's amazing.

Actually it's a parody/metaphor/allegory for the Russian revolution.
