Well I really wasn't supposed to read them yet... My mother just was talking about Big Brother one day, so I decided to get 1984 at my school library, and when I told my mom months later about how vulgar it was, she was freaked out.... Animal Farm wasn't as crazy in that respect, but it's still pretty heavy for a kid whose peers are still reading Judy Blume....

I'm glad that some other people think of 'Animal Farm' when they hear the song 'Piggies'. 'Homage to Catalonia' is also good, as is '1984'. I've not heard of 'Burmese Days' before, but will have a look out for it. What's it about- apart from Burma, as the title suggests?

If you like Orwell, Burmese Days is pretty good, as are the autobiographical Down and Out in Paris and London and Homage to Catalonia.

I'd say back in the ussr because animal farm is about communism.
Great book, it's nice (like 1984, these are the only george orwell books i know)

Great book. You could certainly find aspects of both "Piggies" and "Revolution" in there, although Orwell was surely talking about a different revolution than was in the air in '68. I suppose "Fool On The Hill" could apply tangentially to Clover - she was the vain, silly hair-ribbon-obsessed pony wasn't she? "Yesterday", afraid I don't see the connection to that one at all.

It's not about the Beatles. But it's rumored that piggies was inspired by the book. And you absolutely must read it. Its a fable and it's amazing.
