Well, now that I bought the U.S. Revolver   I now own all the U.S. albums except for The Beatles Story and I did a show on it, so I have the album on a backup CD copy of the episode. Next up will be the George Harrison Apple box set and the Dark Horse set… Christmas oughta be fun. a-hard-days-night-george-10

Nice one.  Is there any particular reason you didn’t get the U.S. box – or did you already have a lot of them?

Didn’t have the money to buy the box set, but I could buy one album a month when I got paid, which is what I did. Plus, I already had the first 4 U.S. albums when I got the ’04 box set release, and wasn’t up for buying them again.

Listened to disc 1 on the way to work and will check out disc 2 on the way home. Track 2 on disc 1 was a pleasant surprise. I had never heard this cover before and it is quite good- soulful R&B. Duane’s guitar playing on it is very nice. I’ll post it in the covers thread.

To the fountain of perpetual mirth, let it roll for all its worth. And all the children boogie.

Bought 8 classical CDs for a coupla bucks apiece today – various longhairs including Beethoven piano sonatas, Mozart/Haydn/Mahler symphonies, ballets by Chopin and  Profokiev and others, a symphonic poem by Rimsky-Korsakov, and (yay!) Berlioz’ “Symphonie Fantastique”, which I was hoping to find a version of someday. (I better like it)

GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.

Longhairs?

I have around 400 classical CDs – went through a ‘phase’ around 15-20 years ago :)

What penguin?

[All i can hear is John saying “that penguin” the same way he said “that little old man” in the train compartment in AHDN .]

Ha ha – the top album in the post – Keepin’ the Summer Alive.  They are in some sort of weather sphere keeping warm in the snow and that is a penguin in front watching them.

I’m going through that phase now! I just buy whatever I find used, and some of it I like enough to keep playing.

(Referring to classical music as “long-haired music” is old-fashioned slang – it dates back to decades before the Beatles revived the popularity of men growing hair to their collars and below! I’m fond of using ridiculously outdated language on occasion!)

I was originally going to post this on the Christmas thread, but I am not going to celebrate Christmas with my mom’s side of the family until the 28TH, so I can’t truthfully say “what did you get for Christmas?” yet.

On CD:

(I ended up giving the Johnny Cash album to my older sister, because I already had it.)

On vinyl:

(Venus And Mars is the recent reissue.  I already have a 1975 copy.)

I'm Necko.  I'm like Ringo except I wear necklaces.

I'm also ewe2 on weekends.

Most likely to post things that make you go hmm... 2015, 2016, 2017.

I Bought a Lot of Albums these past few days

The Ramones-The Sire Years Box Set which has The Ramones, Leave Home, Rocket to Russia, Road to Ruin, End of The Century and Pleasant Dreams

The Beatles in Mono (CD) and i am pretty sure we all know whats in that

The Yes Box Set 1969-1987 which has everything from their first album up to Big Generator

 Exile On Main Street (CD)

Axis:Bold as Love (CD) and now i have all of Jimi’s Albums with His Experience Band

The new Houses of The Holy Remaster (CD)

Paul McCartney ‘s RAM (CD)

and Finally Led Zeppelin 1 and 2 (CD)

It was mainly from money i rechieved over the holidays

I Think that Rolling Stone should do a cover story of The Rolling Stones covering "Like a Rolling Stone" or if a Type of Beetle was named after The Beatles.
