The Monos
In 2013, the remastered albums will make their mono vinyl debuts.

OfflineThat´s good. I´m just going to wait until next year then and maybe get one or two (if they are sold individually). If I can find half-decent originals then I probably won´t.

OfflineAs I've understood they're the same digital remasters with the CDs with a couple changes sto they're suitable for vinyl (and better sound quality too). So that means that the vinyl version is made from a digital file. That's why I'm not sure whether I should buy it or buy earlier pressings made from the original master tapes…

OfflineI pre-ordered, but I'm seriously thinking of cancelling. I'd rather have the vinyl in pristine condition than play and wear them out, and £300 is a lot to lay down for a nice thing to look at. The book looks good but Howlett's sleeve notes for the remasters were fairly dull. Also, if I buy the vinyl box I'll probably talk myself into getting the mono one next year too, and I can't keep chucking money at stuff I've already got (it's the music that matters, right?).
For that money I could complete my original vinyl collection, so I think I'll do that instead. Though I did buy three copies of the withdrawn Love Me Do reissue last night, in case they become collectors' items. Hopefully they'll arrive.

OfflineOK, side note, but my three copies of the withdrawn Love Me Do single just arrived. Nice! I've also got the Magical Mystery Tour box set on its way, with the replica double EP.
It's not an absolute replica, regardless of the Andy White/Ringo mispressing. The songs are credited to MPL Communications, which obviously didn't exist in 1962, and the label says: "Made in the EU", "Recording first published 1962" (though that may have been on the original too) and "Digital Remasters (P) 2009. The copyright in this sound recording is owned by EMI REcords Ltd (C) 2012 EMI Records Ltd".
The sleeve is hard cardboard too, unlike the original flimsy paper. I haven't got my original copy to hand so I can't compare the rest.
Anyway, nice to have some copies of a collector's item. I bought mine from thebeatlestore.co.uk in Liverpool, but I think they've taken it off their site now.

OfflineI know what I'm asking for for Christmas this year! They should have started with the mono one though, because I would rather get that first since it's the more exciting one. They have been putting too many things out recently, it's hard to keep up with it all.![]()

Mhh these might be valuable in the future, since the release was withdrawn. Maybe not enough to pay for Teddy's college but who knows? some books maybe? ![]()

Exactly. They've been going for £50-100 on eBay this week. I've no idea if they'll go up or down – occasionally things that initially seem rare lose their value once the true number that hit the shops emerges. I'm tempted to sell one now, then hang on to the others a little longer.
I've also heard that there'll only be 6,000 copies of the corrected version made available, so that'll be a rarity too.
Sorry, I should

OfflineI'll probably be buying this purely because I just really really want it, and it looks very nice. Though I know the price is a lot, but I'm okay paying that.
I'll most probably get the mono boxset aswell and carry on with my original vinyl collection.

The REAL bitch of it is that a month ago I got tired of waiting on this box set to be announced so I bought The Beatles Collection, The Beatles Singles Collection, and The Beatles EP Collection. All three of the vinyl box sets released back in the late 1970's. The LPs were in good shape, but the EP and singles collections were beyond mint condition and in glorious, glorious mono. I wish I had waited to buy this one though. 180 gram 24/96 vinyls…dammit.
I've got the same collections, Cooper, all in excellent condition, and have NO desire to obtain this set.
How much more of an "authentic" Beatles LP sound can one get apart from the LPs that have already been released- mono, stereo or otherwise? Whether the technology existed at the time, or the specific "180 gram 24/96 vinyls" were not originally used, what could you possibly expect from a reproduction of a reproduction onto a reproduction from a reproduced original master tape, even if from the very recorder that originally captured the sound that has been reproduced, remixed, remastered, remade from it's entire original intent to form yet one more "new" audio revelation that your super-sonic, vastly superior ears will separate from ALL THE OTHERS as the Very Best, Most Desirable and Life-Completing Acquisition of a recorded Beatles document as mankind has yet offered to the heretofore deprived and most discerning audio-intellectualists who have managed to survive a half-century of inferior, crappy-sounding records, tapes, CDs and wireless internet transmissons that THIS LP set will crush and destroy all previous opinions and experiences of an auditory nature that have come before it???
I'll check back with you after I've burned and/or eradicated ALL pretentious-sounding, incomplete Beatles so-called "music" on worthless sources that never should have been released in such a sorry, prehistoric state.
Let's share a 'pity luncheon' together sometime, shall we?
