Think of how Abbey Road finishes (tho I know LIB was released later), with 'The End', some simple but beautiful lyrics and a solo by each of them. It finishes it well, I think, in a nice way.
Agreed. Abbey Road ending with The End is a little upsetting for me, and that's a happy song. If it ended with "I don't believe in Beatles," I think it would be too depressing for me ...

It would make a great ending to the album in my opinion; John at the end stating he doesnt believe in the myth, meaning and emotional weight surrounding the Beatles, im all for that. Some real shit has been been written and said about the effect that the beatles have had on the world, especially by pretentious arses who write the most boring dry long-word filled essays yet probably only ever listened to Pepper and possibly a greatest hits whilst hoping it would end soon so they can go back to pretending Mozart and Holtz are what they are into.

Maybe it's because they weren't put out that way but I can't imagine any of those songs being done by a group. "The Twelfth Album" is an alternative history short story by Stephen Baxter, first published in Interzone in April 1998. It is about an imaginary twelfth album recorded by The Beatles, called God. The album features songs that were written and recorded as solo projects by the group's members in reality, but in a parallel universe where The Beatles did not split up following the release of Let It Be, resulting in these songs being recorded by the group. In the universe where it was recorded, the Earth ...

I'm talking about an album that could have emerged in 1970 if the Beatles had held it together for one last effort. So I imagined an album like the White Album, with the guys' pretty much working independently and then bringing it all together. I kept it to a single disc (rather than a double LP.
